Zhukov had received the word from Halliwell a short time ago. He still wasn't sure if he...if he should take it as a compliment or just as another assignment. He pulled his tunic down to straighten it and stood tall as he walked up to the door of the Ready Room on the Archimedes. He pushed the chime.

T'alaal looked up from her desk. "Come in."

Zhukov walked in and stood at attention. "Lieutenant Commander Zhukov reporting for temporary duty." he said to T'alaal. At least, he hoped it was temporary. He was growing to like the Ranger, and more importantly, he really liked the new Chief Science Officer on the Ranger.

"Ah, yes." She stood up to shake his hand. "It's good to see you, you were personally recommended by Captain Halliwell."

Zhukov eased his stance a bit and shook her hand. "Thank you." he said. "What are your orders, Captain?" he asked her. He was curious about what the Captain's had decided in their briefing.

"I would like you to fill in as second-in-command for this mission." T'alaal said matter-of-factly, "As you may have heard already, the USS Ranger, USS Archimedes and USS FairFax will each do a search through the nebula we're expecting the QAR to be hiding. This will not be without danger, and being the weaker ship of the three the Archimedes will need to rely on wit and experience, more then brute force." She grabbed a PADD made ready for the commander, and gave it to him. "This PADD includes the details for this mission."

Zhukov took the PaDD and sat down in front of the Captain's desk and began to read it over. He scanned it carefully, attempting to take in all the information he could for the upcoming mission.

Coltrane wasn't used to reporting to senior officers like this, but under the circumstances he understood why. He held his diagnostic report of the damage and his recommendations for how and when to fix what. He pushed the chime on the Captain's ready room door and scratched absently at the back of his neck as he waited for a reply.

"Come in," T'alaal repeated.

The Petty Officer walked in with awe, as he did realize the high-ranking presence he was in. "Petty Officer 2nd Class Coltrane reporting, sir!" He immediately continued. "I have finished my diagnostics report of the damage." He handed over the report.

"Ah, very good." T'alaal skimmed over the diagnostics report. "Please, sit down."

With a nod, Coltrane sat down. It surprised him slightly, because he had expected to be dismissed after handing over the report.

"As you know," T'alaal tapped on the diagnostics report, "The Archimedes has taken quite a blow when the QAR attacked. In fact, the most logic course of action would have been a service at a drydock. However," She shifted her weight, "considering the circumstances, that will need to have to wait. Which is why," T'alaal conjured another PADD out of her drawer, "we will need you to keep the Archimedes together."

Coltrane silently skimmed over the PADD. "This is, as you say, not ideal... But it is what I'm best at." He added with a faint smile, he didn't want to sound arrogant.

"Very well." She looked at the two officers from the Ranger, then asked "Any questions?"

Zhukov shook his head. It was all pretty straight forward information.

"Dismissed then" T'alaal nodded as she took up the diagnostics report to read in more detail.
