| Personal History | Davey grew up in a small maritime town on the east coast of Canada. The youngest of four brothers, Davey was always the "baby brother" of the family. His siblings are very protective of him and they have all kept in contact over the years. His childhood was uneventful. His family led a quiet life next to the ocean. Manual labour and hard work where essential values his parents taught him, and even from an early age, Davey was working on fishing boats, building farms, taking odd jobs in construction. During his teen years, Davey fell in with a rebellious group of youths and soon got caught up in drinking, drugs and violence. While Davey never got involved with the law, many of his friends were. When Davey was 17, his brothers stepped in and an intervention set him on a better path. He attended counselling and went to a community school to learn the basics in welding and intro level structural engineering courses. At 19 an interest in engineering, both structural and mechanical, soon turned into a passion. He had no interest in sitting in a classroom for most of his twenties however and was soon persuaded by a Starfleet recruiter to enlist. With the promise of a rewarding career, as well as the opportunity to receive training in his area of interest was more than an enough to entice Davey. During basic training, Davey met and fell in love with Barb Dodson, a fellow Crewman Recruit. Despite being posted to separate Fleets, Barb and Davey were married at the age of 21, and had a baby soon after. Barb then left Starfleet with no intentions of renewing her contract and had urged Davey at the time to do the same, but he had no interest in leaving what he had considered a career. When their son, Mateo, turned three Barb filed for a divorce. This came to Davey as a surprise, and even to this day the reasons are not entirely known though he suspects she found someone else.
