Mission: What Dreams May Come
Location: Deck 6

[Deck 9]

The fact his life was over meant little at the moment; the Prophets are turned away from him, his wife and child were taken away from him and he wondered what he had left? He had taken the family to a new level; all encompassing has a new definition, all crushing. He squeezed the tricorder for a few seconds as though he might be able to crush it actually. He looked at it with a type of wrath brewing in him; he was angry; he was hurt, he was... empty.

*The Prophets are loving...* He had to tell himself.

Adriana slipped into one of the auxiliary science labs, one that wasn't used that much, and was relieved to find it empty.  It wouldn't take long to modify the kind of containment fields usually used for experiments into one that would seal off the room.  She pulled up a chair to a work station and sat down with a sigh, not knowing that she wasn't alone- that her demons were closer than she could ever have imagined.

THE tricorder beeped as he was getting farther away from her; the glance showed her stationary, three decks and on the edge of his range. Just ten to twenty paces and he would not have to worry about her, she would not be able to detect him and he could put her out of his mind. The mind is an amazing thing that can make anything rational; he could easily just walk away from someone who pointed a phaser at him.

*How dare she?* Thinking in his anger. *Who did she think she was dealing with?* He shook his head and walked another ten paces.

[Deck 6]

Time was ticking away and the ship was not getting any more safe from the lack of people coming to check on Adriana, the energy signiture of the force fields was changing; the Borg had taught about the changing of harmonics to keep a shield up. But the Borg were smart and those that studied the Borg could find ways around it, the computer could teach a person enough to make it easier to take down a shield.

Safe behind the containment field, Adriana forced her shoes off.  Her boots were way too tight.  She needed to get something new for her swollen feet.  It was a minor inconvenience, in the grand scheme of things, but all this running around hadn't helped.  In her socks she stood again to stretch her aching back and walk a little to relieve the tension.  Again, a minor inconvenience compared with the thrilling joy of being pregnant with their first child and she did her best not to complain about these little things to Morai.

She bit her lower lip a little, wondering if she should call Morai.  She wished he was here with her, wished he would be here to protect her, but he thought she was being paranoid, he didn't believe her that Brex was here and trying hurt her and Little One.  And she DIDN'T want to have to deal with her husband trying to convince her she was wrong and that she should relax and go home, maybe see a doctor and have a psych eval, which would be his next bit of advice if she told him she saw Brex again.

The energy flickered for a second, it was taking some kind of an attack; subterfuge and someone is trying to get past it or play with it to make her know they could get to her. The power readings fluxuated slightly as someone played with the fields.

Engrossed in thinking about her husband, she barely caught the subtle flicker of the forcefield.  But out of the corner of her eye, that little flash somehow drew her attention to it and she hurried back to the console to see what was wrong.  Someone in another lab was controlling the field.  Adriana's heart rate kicked into high gear.  No one should even know she was here!  How, and why, could someone be trying to get in?  It had to be Brex.  He was playing with the field, playing with her.  She wasn't safe after all.  Her fortress had just become her cage and she was now trapped with someone poking through the bars.

Tears of fear rose in her eyes and Adriana reached for the communication's console.  Security had dismissed her claims even faster than Morai had.  They wouldn't take a call for help seriously.  But even if he thought she was going crazy, her husband would come to her; if she called him and said she and Little One were in trouble, he would come, even if he didn't think that danger was real.

She used the computer comm system since she'd thrown away her commbadge.  "Computer, contact Counselor Keen through his comm badge.  Morai- he's after us- I'm trapped in the auxiliary science labs-"  The containment field dropped entirely for a half second before snapping back up and she cried out in fear as she tried to regain control of the field from this console.  "Morai, I can't stop him!" she almost sobbed.

[Deck 9]

=^= There is no one outside of it. =^= Keen said as he had started there to keep an eye on her. =^= I am outside there are other power demands pulling on the field. =^= He sigh. =^= Stay where you are , four point two meters behind an obstruction is the best place for you Adri..." He paused as the anger kept welling up in him and he had to fight it. "Kitten... you and Little One best stay there where it is safe; just like the Breen incident, you stay safe I will handle it.=^=

[Deck 6]

The containment field failed and Adriana looked up and directly at Brex.  She pushed away from the console with a scream, lunging for the phaser as Brex started for her.  Her socks slid on the polished floor and she fell, her face slamming into the console.

She crumpled to the floor and didn't move, didn't even cry out.
