ON

Casting a glance about her quarters, Eden felt she had everything ready and in the right place. The dining table was set with two place settings, two stemmed wine glasses, a bottle of champagne chilling in a bucket of ice, a roast sirloin next to a tossed salad took the center place of the table. She smiled to herself and then went into her bedroom to freshen up and slip into a something a little more comfortable than her uniform.

When Jensen had gotten the invite to have dinner with Eden, he had gotten rather excited. Other than their impromptu lunch when she'd first arrived, they hadn't really had a chance to meet with one another or catch up. The only way he'd know anything about her was when he'd gotten the notice from Lieutenant Commander Cattmor about Eden's promotion to Chief Engineering Officer. Which of course, he'd figured would happen after Lieutenant Darkmoon's condition.

He had decided to dress business casual for their dinner date. He wore a simple button-down blue shirt with the sleeves rolled up, nice pair of slacks, and some sleek dress shoes. He'd slicked his hair back and had even brought one of his and Eden's favorite movies, an old Earth film called The Wizard of Oz. Stepping up to Eden's door, he activated the panel and waited, a smile on his face.

Hearing the chime of someone at the door, Eden quickly finished dressing and ran a brush through her hair. She wore a knee-length, white dress, that had a wonderful floral pattern printed on it, and white high heels. She pulled her hair into a low ponytail and then answered the call. "Come in." After Jensen had entered, she went before him and did a little twirl, the folds of the skirt flaring out just a bit.

"How do I look?" She smiled happily, this was a dress her husband had bought her before she'd left and she'd made sure to wear the Bajoran earring she'd been graced with during their wedding. She also wore a heart-shaped locket around her neck that beheld pictures of her family inside it's golden chamber.

Watching his friend twirl, Jensen smiled warmly at her. He also noted the Bajoran earring and the locket around her neck. "Eden, you look beautiful." He gave her a quick hug and then handed her the movie he'd brought. "It's our favorite, remember?"

Eden's eyes widened in delight when she saw the colorful cover of The Wizard of Oz. "We'll watch this after dinner! Now, sit, sit!" she said as she motioned for Jensen to sit at the table. Popping the cork and pouring them each a glass of champagne, she quickly set about filling their plates with the roast and some salad. She hadn't been able to do this kind of thing since the night before she'd left Earth. After a bit of quiet and food indulging, Eden said, "So, I heard down the grape vine that you and a certain crewmember have been spending lunch together since he came aboard. Care to indulge my curiosity?" She quirked an eyebrow and took a sip from her glass awaiting her friend's answer.

Blushing slightly, Jensen replied, "It's nothing really. We're just getting to know one another. It's nothing serious." He looked away, feeling flustered.

"Alright, you wanna be all secretive, fine," she said with a mock-glare. "But the moment you and he become an item, I wanna be the first to know."

Jensen took a quick drink from his glass and then asked, wanting to change the subject, "How are you handling it down in Engineering? Keeping everyone on their toes?"

Smiling easily, Eden looked at Jensen with a twinkle in her eye. "Of course! But not all the time, I do allow for levity and want to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves. There's a fine line between being a hard-ass and being stern... and I'm not about to cross that line, Jensen."

After that the conversation lulled and they ate in silence for a while, occasionally scattered with conversation about their pasts, the current mission, and which crewmembers they got along with and which ones pushed their buttons. Eden was really enjoying herself and could tell that Jensen was enjoying himself as well.

Once dinner was done and they'd had dessert, they took to the couch and continued talking. Eden noticed that Jensen blushed everytime she prodded him for more information regarding his lunch companion. She only half-listened to Jensen talk as she mentally tried to place whom the person was. She gave up after a bit, but did admit to herself that he really needed a good man in his life. She wasn't about to watch her friend go through life as a loner just because of his gift. And from what Jensen had mentioned of the man, she caught on that he was at least Betazoid. Though, whether this person could help Jensen was something to be seen. Eden knew of the CMO and XO's attempts at helping one another with their gifts, but knew that nothing had really come of it... Except having her and her team work diligently to correct the damage that had been wrought upon the Ranger.

She was brought out of her inner thoughts when Jensen suddenly mentioned wanting to watch The Wizard of Oz. Smiling brightly, Eden exclaimed with enthusiasm and went to start the movie. After it started, she and Jensen just sat down on the couch, the bottle of wine sitting on the coffee table, and snuggled up together. And while it may have seemed intimate, they were just that comfortable with one another as only two close friends could be.

And then Dorothy started singing about going 'Over the Rainbow' and Eden's attention was all for Judy Garland.
