[OLD]
Not that Keen wanted to excuse the situation; it was more out of what Keen did so many times in the camps; watching someone killed snapped the numb Keen into yet another bit of the camps; he had done this many times, 3464 souls had fallen in the camp, twenty two before Jubb and now yet another soul was departing. It was appropriate that Keen send it off; at least a chance at redemption?

T'mpest went over to Rylie and Miral. "How are you both?" There had been no time to talk to the two in the brief time aboard the Ranger.
Cattmor was a little distracted at first to answer, as she looked on Morai Keen's actions and picked up his surface thoughts. She didn't mean to scan directly, it was just something in his actions, and his thoughts that perplexed her. Jubb was not evil in the true meaning of the word, he was right about that, but under the circumstances, the late Admiral also got just what he deserved. He was going to lay waste to this planet, all to wipe out an uncomfortable mistake of his past. While not stooping as low as genocide, Rylie had done some horrific things in her own past, and some, or possibly most, she had yet to remember, as much as she didn't want to.
She side glanced to Miral before looking at T'mpest directly, "A few bumps and scrapes, commander, and I have one hell of a headache, but otherwise okay I guess. Rami got the worst of it I think with her leg." Rylie paused a second before adding, "Though I don't know what happened to Sehra. She may be worse off than all of us."
"We lost her in a bar fight," Miral added. "We'll go back and look for her when this is over." She glanced at Varik, hoping that it would, indeed, be over. As for her leg, it wasn't as bad as it had been and she didn't want to talk about it right now, so she chose to remain silent on the subject.
"Commander, what evidence did you give him? I know what I could finally see in the Admiral's mind but... I'm guessing they're not exactly going to be trusting your or my word around here." she asked eyeing the Lantiri people around the room with their firearms at the ready.
"Evidence that he lied to Starfleet and altered the records to clear himself of blame," T'mpest said. "If he'd survived the trial here, he would have had to face another on Earth. Frontier Justice, I believe it was once called."
Keen finished with the Admiral and slowly stood, in looking around his eyes stopped just beyond the guards. "Adriana?" He said aloud and started towards her, he could see the sky on a dark day staring back at him; she was a storm waiting to erupt, the fear of his fate has worn on the sparkle he always sought there, the guards did not matter to him. "Adriana." He said loud enough for all to hear as he continued towards her.
Adriana tried again to step around the guards to get to her husband. They were still blocking her path, but not looking too sure of themselves or their current role anymore. "Please, he's my husband," she asked as she pulled up short in response to them not moving.
The guards looked around for orders, to make sense of who was still under arrest, who was supposed to be on trial, and who was free. The woman wasn't a danger, the man had been a 'model prisoner,' and Jubb, the apparent villain in this case, was dead. Vaas was the real danger.
And she was pregnant- you could see it. Even in the 24th century, a woman carrying a new life in her was often given... a little leeway. On Leandreah, a planet ravaged by a poisoned atmosphere and conventional warfare, where every family had been ripped apart, where the toxic air had depleted the fertility rate, where children were susceptible to all the dangers and hazards of the environment... A healthy woman carrying a child was going to get more than a little leeway. Even trained and hardened soldiers are men of flesh and blood. They are, for lack of a better word, only human, and they feel the same hope and care for a child as anyone.
After a tense few seconds, one of them made the call they all wanted to make and stepped aside.
Adriana almost threw herself at Morai, shaking a little with residual fear and relief at being with him again. Normally when she was in the presence of other officers, Adriana was more reserved; she didn't like to rub her relationship in their noses since she was only and enlistedman and fraternizing between officers and enlisted wasn't generally encouraged. Right now she wouldn't have cared if the President of the UFP, half the admiralty of Starfleet, and James T. Kirk himself had been in the room. She was with her husband and she was not letting him go until she had convinced herself he was no longer in danger of being executed.
Morai is never one to turn away affections from his Kitten; she had come to him in his lowest time and stood with him at his highest time so when she came to him now he knew that things were not yet over. The Prophets would not allow his family to die or watch a member of his family die in front of them. Morai had watched three thousand plus souls be killed before his eyes.
"Kitten..." He said when she came into his arms, he twirled her around as he had so long ago. "I am not leaving you."
T'mpest led Rylie and Miral away from the Keens. "What of the others?" she asked quietly.
"They're fine, sir," Rylie said softly with a small sigh feeling more than a little guilt for their situation. "T'Lar and the others all escaped with minor injuries after their scuffles at the market place, and McCreevy woke up about thirty minutes before this. Varik's people are, shall we say looking after them, and given what he done for Rami's leg," she said looking round at him and actively searching his thoughts, "I think he can be trusted so far as he'll keep his end of the bargain. I just wish I knew what happened to Sehra."
