T'mpest led Rylie and Miral away from the Keens. "What of the others?" she asked quietly.
"They're fine, sir," Rylie said softly with a small sigh feeling more than a little guilt for their situation. "T'Lar and the others all escaped with minor injuries after their scuffles at the market place, and McCreevy woke up about thirty minutes before this. Varik's people are, shall we say looking after them, and given what he done for Rami's leg," she said looking round at him and actively searching his thoughts, "I think he can be trusted so far as he'll keep his end of the bargain. I just wish I knew what happened to Sehra."

"We'll find her," T'mpest promised. As long as Jaenero agreed to drop the rest of the changes, but she didn't want the others worrying about that just yet. No sense in it. They would deal with the decision when it was reached. Until then, T'mpest wanted information. "See what you can learn here. The general feel of the room is sufficient. It may help us later."
Miral looked towards Varik and then back at T'mpest. "I volunteer to help with the peace talks. I have a good idea as ato where the Rebels stand."
"If it becomes necessary," T'mpest replied. "First I wish to see where the Governor stands."
As if right on cue, Governor Jaenero walked briskly back into the council chambers. "Commander Michaels," he called warily side-stepping around the corpse of Admiral Jubb that no-one had bothered to clean up yet, and continued quieter noting the presence of Rylie and Miral, not knowing who they were, their appearance and garb unknown and unkempt, "I have supervised the analysts looking over the evidence you brought with you." He paused slightly, which almost made people hold their breath for the word. "They still have more tests, but for the moment, it would appear as you speak the truth. Your information and our records, appear now to tell the same story. It would appear that Admiral Jubb lied to us both."
T'mpest gave him a slight nod, pleased with his statement.
Adriana stood with her arm round her husband's waist as if being separated from him would tear her in two right now. She'd started, almost flinched, when Jaenero came back into the room, afraid for a moment that he was going to still hold this trial for the other members of the crew and find them guilty and sentence them to death after all. Her grip on Morai's waist tightened until the governor until he said he believed T'mpest about no one else being involved.
Keen did not change his holding of his wife; he had tensions and only his 'Kitten' would be able to put them aside. Like her namesake she had an effect upon him; like the warmeth of a kitten purrug under the continued petting, Adriana helped Keen in times of stress. It was hard to see anything as being impossible or going that far well when he had her right there. "You are my life Kitten." HE whispered in her ear. "Thank you for coming to claim what is yours."
"I do not relish the thought of sitting across the table from you, if truth be known" Jaenero went on bringing Varik into the conversation, "but if it is to be, we shall talk; with the aid of the Federation. You still have the Ambassador..."
"They will be released." Varik stated quickly, virtually interrupting the governor. "They will all be released; including Captain Halliwell, commander."
"Good," she said bluntly. "And once both of you release your prisoners, we will be happy to help with peace talks."
Jaenero turned back to T'mpest. "They will be, you will have my word. In fact, I see no reason to hold them any further." He motioned to the guards to lower their guard further and to release any hold they had on the Ranger's crew. The first steps had already been made, it was up to all of them to ensure the journey continued. "For what it's worth, commander, I'm sorry. This whole situation, could have been, should have been avoided."
"Indeed," she said, still blunt. "But as you said, Admiral Jubb lied to both of us." She glanced at his body and then back to Jaenero. "But he has paid for his crimes and we should now move on to unite your people. Once that is done, we can talk about trade with the Federation. The Ambassador has been sent to help with this process."
"Then I look forward to meeting him." Jaenero said with a slight smile.
"As soon as he is released," T'mpest said.
Keen did not miss the eyes upon Adriana, the glances at her swelling belly; even if slight their interest in her was more than just her natural beauty; she was something they longed for, or to see more of. It is said a pregnat woman is radiant; Adriana is no exception, but this could also be a way to work with the peace talks.
"Would it be alright if Adriana accompanied me in my official capacity while here Captain?" Keen asked. "It seems I will not be able to keep her from my side for a bit and she is a very social person, I think her presence would be a calming effect?" He wanted to show how two races were so united under the Federation and her being pregnant might give hope as undoubtedly Adriana might tell that difficulties and how the Doctors have been so helpful, that very well could be the best 'trade' the Federation has to offer
"As long as hostilities are truly over," she glanced at Jaenero and Varik for confirmation which they both gave with an exchange of looks to one another, "Then yes, she may accompany you."
As each party exited the council chambers, even if there were some untrusting looks bounced around, Jaenero motioned for the guards to dispense with the corpse in the middle of the room, and to clean the singular blood dribble stain from the floor in an effort to make it ready to hold deliberations of peace. He still held reservations, as did Varik Maas, who'd been fighting for this for almost a decade. Except this time, they both had help, here, now and in the near future. If there was one thing that each of them could take away from this, even if their own ideologies differed, they would be stronger as a whole, united through their diversity, to create a better future. A brighter future for all.
