Elsie stood in Astrometics, the main viewer, although displaying a star-chart, phased in and out of focus slightly. A fuzzing sort of disruption that was causing Elsie's nausea to flare a little. She had Blake on one side of her and Cooper on the other, both hammering in commands to the console attempting to clear it up.
"I appreciate that neither of you are engineers, but with the power fluctuations still plaguing the ship, our sensor resolution is shot." She looked up as the screen blipped to black and then regained its focus. "Without clearing this up somehow we'll never discover what's in this sector."
Blake straighted and twisted his neck to unwind the kink, he'd been doing battle with the various elements for the ships computer in a valiant attempt to keep operations running as smoothly as he could. However every time he made a slight headway something trigged the process to restart again. The explosion in sickbay was plaguing his mind since he'd yet to hear from Sehra, thankfully the heavy workload occupied most of his time.
We wouldn't have these problems if we weren't here in the first place, Jimmy thought annoyed, but he decided to hold his peace for now. "We're doing the best we can, Captain, but faulty equipment is faulty equipment. Computer," Jimmy decided to change tactics, "record a full minute of sensor readings, and compile the best data into a proper map of the area." He sighed. "It will be static at best, but at least we'll have something to look at which doesn't make us seasick."
Elsie stopped what she was doing and then turned to face her science officer. "Lieutenant Cooper, I'd modify that tone of yours when you're in my company. We're all on a knife's edge at the moment and your tantrums aren't helping to get us out of it any time soon."
On her other side Dylan cringed at remark, but was glad for once he wasn't on the receiving end of Halliwell's whip.
What is going on with this crew? Elsie angrily thought to herself. First Mora and now Cooper, both openly committing insubordination in front of other officers. She snapped her attention back to the screen and not even looking towards Jimmy nodded as the focus of the chart came back in to view. "Good work," she said quietly.
I wasn't... Jimmy silently made a fist in anger, though on the other side of Halliwell so she wouldn't see. "Computer, keep making occasional snapshots, keep updating the screen." Finally, he looked at the image, which now only shifted slightly, and occasionally. "I think the first thing we should do is find out what caused our systems to go haywire like this. I have no intention of being blown up again."
"I second that," Blake said lowly. He studided the image that they'd received and squited slightly in an attempt to erase the fuzziness.
"Good," Elsie replied. "Then let's get to work."
