Security Briefing

Mission:
In The Dark
Location: Lane's Ready Room
Timeline: Current
The ‘new and improved’, chemically dampened Ensign Turoc had stepped up to oversee the Security and Tactical department during Mr. Shran’s absence with the away team. The reports from the Yajuta had been coming in thick and fast, with more frequency than the Trill could keep up with, in honesty, but Lane had considered it high time to bring Mr. Turoc in for a briefing. The quiet passage to the planet was still plaguing the captain heavily, and sitting like the proverbial duck in space, orbiting Citadel Prime, agitated him further.
Sounding the intercom from his Ready Room chair, he placed down his cup of coffee and spoke.
=A= Commander Lane to Ensign Turoc, do you have a minute for me? I’m in my Ready Room. =A=
=^="I shall be there shortly, sir."=^=
The Trill then picked up the latest sensor sweep of the sector and scrolled down, awaiting for his Assistant Chief SEC/TAC Officer to arrive.
The doors breathed open and Turoc entered, centring himself about a pace in front of the Commander's desk. "You wanted to see me sir." Turoc said, in an inquisitive tone.
"Yes, Mr. Turoc. Please take a seat if you would."
"I have asked you here, Ensign, as, with Lieutenant Shran tasked to the away-mission, you are now in charge of Tactical and Security. I appreciate the reports you have sent my way," he picked up the PADD again and gestured to it. "But, I am concerned, Turoc. I can’t help but think that something is amiss… Now, I'm not sure what, but just something. I want you to take a security detail and search this ship deck by deck. I don't know myself what you're looking for, but just humour me, if you could."
"Very well sir, I shall begin at once." He touched a few buttons on a device about his left wrist that activate the computer program linked to his mobile transporter device. In a blue sparkling glow, his wrist blades appeared on his right wrist and his mask on his face. The mask allowed him to see in different spectrums of light.
"The Blades are a precaution. Better to have them and not need them than need them and not have them."
"Mr. Turoc, no," Lane replied in a stern tone. "I explicitly conceded that the blades were acceptable in an emergency only. Red alert status. This not that time. I do not want you passing through every deck of this ship with those. I want this conducted sensitively, Ensign. And that's an order. I just want you to search this ship to satisfy my curiosity. That's all"
He turned and exited, ordering two of the enlisted security personnel to follow him as he transported his wrist blades back to the armoury. As they left the bridge to start the search, a thought ran through Turoc's mind. How is it he seems to sense something and yet I do not. Could it be he is just paranoid?
The turbolift doors opened on deck. He turned to Petty Officer Muroe. "I want a complete and thorough security sweep when you finish here. Start on deck four and maintain communication at 5 minute intervals." Turoc said in commanding tone.
"Aye, sir," the petty officer responded as he exited the turbolift.
