Mission:
In The Dark
Location: XO's Office
Ador marched to the XO's office and rang her chime. He wanted to discuss the impending mission. He stood at parade rest. He had a few dealings with the Citadel Security prior to the war when he was with the anti-terrorism team.
Arkham smirked as the former Marine entered her office. She'd heard good things about the Archimedes' new Security and Tactical Chief, and looked forward to seeing him in action firsthand -- hopefully something that wouldn't have to happen on this trip, but they would see, Arkham supposed.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Shran," Arkham said coolly. "What can I do for you? It's a bit early yet -- I wasn't planning on leaving until this evening for Citadel Prime."
"Commander I wanted to discuss some personal experience with the local Security force. I checked you have the clearance." He said as he entered the room scanning the room with a practiced eye. He switched between the spectrum of light to garuntee their privacy.
Arkham nodded -- she had known this, and that was why she had chosen the former Marine for the delegation that they were sending down. "Of course, Lieutenant. I am well aware of your work with C-SEC. That's why you're the one coming to the surface with me. Is there information that I need to be aware of?"
"If things get hot down there I may still have a few contacts in the anti-terrorism unit in the capitol. They know me, but will be suspicious of others. The unit leader owes me his life and he would help me if he can. His name is Kuran commander of the C-SEC Counter Terrorism Strikeforce." He said with a slight grin as he knew how much Kuran hated owing his life to him.
Arkham nodded once more. "Excellent, Mr. Shran -- it's good to know. By the way,are you prepared to leave now? If you are prepared, and our third party arrives, I suppose we could head down to the planet now..."
"Just need to pick up my carbine Commander. I am always prepared to fight. I'd love to have nothing but peace, but I have yet to find it." He said with a scarred smile. "As you can see by my face." He added with a gravely chuckle.
Arkham chuckled a bit, rubbing her own ruined jaw. "Well, that makes two of us, Mr. Shran. Why don't you grab your carbine? I want to get going as soon as possible. I'll stay and wait for Ensign Carter."
"Aye Commander. I'll be back in five mikes." He said in his all business tone.
Carter was nervous about this mission but excited nonetheless. As she ran to the turbo lift, she realised she was late and urged it to go faster. "Come on" she muttered under her breath. Since being on board it was as if her good spirit was being sapped. Perhaps it was the difficult psych evaluations she had done or maybe it was just the fact that everything new was draining her.
The turbo lift whined to a halt and she stepped out and ran to the Commander's office. She tapped the door chime and waited to be called in.
Arkham looked up from the PADD on her desk, smirking a little. The Chief Counselor had apparently arrived. "Enter."
As the young officer entered, Arkham raised her head, meeting the young officer's rather skittish gaze. "Ensign Carter. Do you have any questions? And are you ready to leave immediately?"
Carter detected the very faint whiff of stale alcohol in the room and wondered if the Commander had had a good night. Of course, she said nothing, nor did her face betray what she was thinking at that point.
"Sir, I am reporting for duty but have not had specific briefing details yet. I am, however, ready to leave immediately if you will permit me to read in the shuttle, or if we are transporting perhaps you could give me 5 minutes? I see that Lieutenant Shran is not yet here".
Again, she wondered why the Commander insisted on living her life in such pain an didn't accept more medial intervention. It was almost as if...
-Stop it, Lucy - she thought. -Remain focussed - .
Ador had double-timed to his quarters and strapped on his load belt. He slapped a Ballistic pistol holster in addition to his type 2 phaser. He slung his phaser carbine over his shoulder and stopped long enough to kiss Tara and the kids. Then he turned and silently left this quarters and ran back to the Commander's office.
Ador arrived back at the office in 3 minutes flat. He was pleased with himself. He was not even winded. He may be a fleetie for the time being and he may be getting long in the tooth but he was in great shape for his age.
Arkham rose from her desk, smirking a little and passing a PADD across the table. "Yes, Miss Carter, you can certainly read in the shuttle. We are going down to the surface of Citadel Prime as representatives of the Archimedes -- we will link up with their diplomatic team and oversee a meeting of the Citadel Council. With your...unique insight into behavior, we thought you would be a valauble addition. And Mr. Shran is of course there to protect us."
Carter didn't doubt the professionalism inherent in the Commander's personality but wondered why she seemed to be constantly smirking. It was as if there was some private joke going on only Arkham knew about.
Carter picked up the PADD and simply said "thank you. I shall study this on the shuttle".
"Well, if there are not more questions, then to the shuttlebay," Arkham said stiffly, smirking as much as her ruined features would allow. "We have a great deal of work ahead of us."
Carter got up and followed Arkham to the shuttlebay.
Ador fell in line at the rear. He was already in over-watch mode. He started running his eyes through a diagnostic just to make sure that they were working at peak efficiency.
"Show time," Arkham said quietly, smirking wryly.
