Location: Corridor to the Starbase

Having said his good-byes, T'kaarch had packed his stuff and walked towards the starbase, where he would be picked up by a smaller starship bound for Earth. Being docked allowed the bigger hallways to be connected, and people were running up and down carrying supplies and other things. In thought, he almost bumped into a younger man.
"Excuse me," T'kaarch purred, nodding his head, "I wasn't paying attention."
"No problem, sir." The young Lieutenant had spikes for hair, and wore similar Science department colors. He extended his hand. "Jimmy Cooper, I guess we'll be co-workers."
"Unforrrtunately, I was just leaving." The cat nodded towards the starbase. "New orrrderrrs."
"Ah, yes, that's how it goes." Jimmy still had his hand extended, which, un-taken, looked a bit silly, so he decided to just drop it. "Could you maybe point me to the Ready Room? I'm due to meet the captain in 10 minutes."
"Turrrbolift to Deck 1, then the doorrr to the left." T'kaarch purred friendly.
"Oh, yes, it's a Intrepid class, right? Beautiful little ships."
"I prrreferrr the smallerrr Nova class, perrrrsonally..." T'kaarch mused.
"Oh, you should visit the Rhode Island, my last ship... But anyway, I should be going now, mister...?"
"Oh, it's T'kaarrrrch." T'kaarch extended his paw.
Finally able to shake hands, Jimmy took it. A small jolt of electricity shook between them.
"Good luck with your orders, Lieutenant." Jimmy said kindly, nodding to the cat. Right then he realised how little Caitians he'd actually met - If any, most were just passerby's at starbases... Not unlike this one, actually.
"Good bye," the cat purred, and with a quick nod, walked away.
Jimmy started walking in the opposite direction, now with a little more hurry. While he had left the starbase on time, his schedule didn't include a random run-in with a cat. He hoped he wasn't late - that wasn't how the new Assistant Chief Scientist Officer should start his new function.
