"Maria, stop, will you? Or at least slow down!"

"No way, Luce, I can't miss the window."

Maria Traho reached the sickbay doors and went in. The EMH activated immediately. "Please state the nature of the medical emergency," he said, before continuing, "oh, it's you, Nurse. What do you want?" There was a hint of lemon in his question.

"Computer?" she asked, quickly and quietly, "deactivate the EMH for the next hour. Traho security lock out Phi November 1"

The EMH disappeared. Maria was not fond of his sourness towards her and didn't need his help today.

Carter appeared at the door, only slightly out of breath after her chase. She walked over to her friend, palms uppermost and said, "Maria, for god's sake, just think this through."

"You know damned well I have thought this through, Luce. 1,500 gold pressed latinum bars are mine if I complete this transaction today." She tapped at the console in front of her and smiled sweetly at the man who appeared. "Mr Brown," she said with a voice Carter knew she reserved for men. "How lovely to see you. Are you well? And Mrs Brown?"

The man on the viewscreen nodded. "We are both very well thank you, Maria. Both anxious to complete our... arrangement as soon as we can."

Maria smiled. "Wonderful. Well. I am ready - is Mrs Brown ready?" She scanned the background of the image in front of her and could see the other woman lying on a bed. Maria waved to her. "Hi there!" She patted her abdomen and continued, "soon be yours!"

Mrs Brown raised herself onto one elbow in response, "Thank you, Maria. I must apologise but the hormones I am taking are making me rather queasy. You will forgive me if I don't get up."

Mr Brown turned his head back from his wife. "Where is the doctor, Maria? I thought he would be present."

"Sorry, Mr Brown, but the doctor is not available at the moment. But don't worry! I know exactly what to do."

"Well if you are sure," said Mr Brown.

Maria smiled. "It's a simple transport, that's all. No worries at all. Now then, I take it all sides are ready to proceed with the foetal transfer?"
