Mission:
Shoreleave
Location: USS Ranger, Shepherd's Quarters
ON
Karra Telana walked down the corridor of the Ranger wearing the least revealing Orion clothes she could find, which was surprisingly better than one would expect. She wore a ruby-red sparkling sleeveless turtleneck with a middrif going several inches above her navel, and a skirt equal in color and sparkle. She had a new pep in her step, as she was very glad to get shore leave. She'd seen that all the Engineering senior staff had turned in their reports in the unreasonable amount of time Reynaldi'd given them, and she turned in hers as well.
Now was a time for relaxation and fun, something, with her popularity on this ship, she certainly wouldn't have to do alone, but she already had someone in mind. She pushed her red painted fingernail which looked christmacy against her olive green hand against the chime and waited for entry.
Shepherd opened the door, wearing loose trousers and a simple warm-up jacket. "Telana?" he asked, more to himself that to her. "I assume you're here about that thing in the EV locker?"
"You guess correctly." She said with a nod.
"Please," he stepped aside in the doorway and waved an arm. "Come in. I've been meaning to get in touch with you."
She entered slowly, a sort of saunter was the best way to describe her walk as she looked around the room. It was neat and clean, but not overly so. It seemed very comfortable, but it was also the last thing she was thinking about. "Nice decorating," she said to him.
He smiled a skeptical smile, and then indicated the replicator. "Something to drink?"
"Uhm... just water, please."
"Please, have a seat. Make yourself comfortable," he said, before ordering from the replicator.
Karra sat down as ordered and took the drink when it was offered to her.
"So," said Shepherd as he sat, his own water glass in hand. "You came on pretty strong in the EV locker."
"I've never been one for subtlety, Mr. Shepherd," she said matter-of-factly. "Did that make you... uncomfortable?
"Not in the moment," Shepherd chuckled, "but perspective has a value that can't be calculated. You're an attractive young officer, and the offer is equally attractive." He met her eyes evenly and let that hang for a moment before continuing, "but I can't accept favors in return for service. Not favors as intimate as you've implied, anyway. Has Reynaldi said anything to you?"
She chuckled and shook her head. "He's never been alone in a room with me for more than thirty seconds, he makes sure of that. I wouldn't be surprised if he, though it would be very unlike him, swept it under the rug and hoped never to see it happen again. As for payment, this is not a way for me to give it, I'm not a prostitute. I just... thought you were cute and it was a pretty good excuse."
Shepherd's eyes widened slightly as he digested that, and then he threw his head back and gave a booming laugh before regarding her with a friendly smile. "Well, I'm flattered. Thank you."
"Any time," she said, setting her glass on the table in front of her. "So, what do you say we use this shoreleave to get to know each other a bit better?"
"Now you're talking," Shepherd nodded.
