Mission: Looking for the Future in all the Wrong Places
Location: Science Lab
Timeline: Current

As T'kaarch returned to the Science lab, he noticed Holly still sitting there. She was actually looking forward, stale and distant. T'kaarch walked up to the console to release her. "Have you thought about what you've done?" T'kaarch asked as he pressed the buttons to enable her motorical functions.

Holly was actually really angry T'kaarch had just kept her sitting for an hour - if she'd been human she'd have so much pain in the butt right now. But her revenge would be sweet, and as such she kept perfectly silent and still, looking stale and distant.

T'kaarch looked at her. "Hey, I asked you something." He purred as he walked up to her. He looked into her eyes, and very briefly, a slight grim came on Holly's face. Finally, she couldn't hold in anymore, and, for no appearant reason, she kissed him on the lips.

Caught in complete surprise, T'kaarch stumbled backwards to end up sitting on his butt. "What did you do that forrr?" He purred slightly annoyed.

"Because she likes you," T'mpest said from the doorway. "It's pretty obvious." She looked at Holly. "I'm T'mpest, by the way. Nice to meet you."

"Oohh," Holly jumped up and skipped to the vulcan hybrid. "You can even do the ears!" she said as she poked at T'mpest's pointed ears.

"Commanderrr," T'kaarch purred as he got up again, "This is Holly... as you know."

"Yes, I do," T'mpest said. "Sammi informed me as soon as she entered the computer system. Are you going to fix her?"

T'kaarch thought for a moment. "I'm not surrre therrre's that much to fix... Shorrrt of an entirrre rebuild of herrr matrrrix, but then she'd lose... everrrything." Meanwhile, he pulled up Holly's matrix for T'mpest to see. "See?"

"I agree. There's not much that needs fixing. Maybe just repair the missing code. It wouldn't change her personality any. All it would do would be to stabilize the visual parameters," T'mpest suggested.

"Verrry well." T'kaarch stepped aside to let T'mpest help him with the procedure.

"Ooh, that tickles!" Holly was still skipping around. Meanwhile, however, one of the other scientists had entered the room. "Commander," he nodded to T'mpest, "we don't see you around here often."

"No, but you'll be seeing me around a lot more often," she replied. She looked at T'kaarch, not quite sure how to inform him of the changes to the department.

"Petty officerrr, and everrryone else," T'kaarch raised his voice a little, making a few more scientists appear, "Therrre has been a change in... perrrsonell, Commanderrr T'mpest will be Chief, and I will, once again, be assistant."

"What do you mean a Spook is going to be the new Chief?" a Telurite said, walking into the room.

T'mpest turned to him. "I'm a scientist. I taught at the Vulcan Science Academy before I joined Starfleet."

The Telurite snorted. "Then why do you wear a gray uniform?"

"Because I value knowledge," she said. "I have also been a Chief Diplomat during my Starfleet career. I always come back to science." She looked at him calmly. "I am a scientist first."

"In eitherrr way," T'kaarch looked with unnatural stern eyes to the scientist, "She is yourrr boss now." He then turned back to the console, where T'mpest had already done some remarkable work on the matrix in the short time he had been distracted. "You know, we should make a holo novel togetherrr." T'kaarch purred half-jokingly.

"My holo projects are usually scenic in nature," T'mpest chuckled. T'kaarch's words had succeeded in quelling further questions. At least for now. "You did an excellent job with Holly." A few more tweaks and they were done. "That should do it. How do you feel, Holly?" she asked.

Holly kicked her legs, then waved her arms. "No different from before," she said truthfully, "are you sure this elf is good at her job?!?" She was right on top of T'kaarch again, which almost made him careen into T'mpest. "It's a Vulcan" he corrected her, then to T'mpest: "Sorrrry commanderrr, she's still a little... edgy."

T'mpest eyed Holly critically. "You look better, which is what I was working on. For the rest you'll have to talk to T'kaarch."

"Do I look better?" She was pretty much on top of T'kaarch again. "Do I look more sexy?" She was doing poses, but they looked more silly than sexy.

"Holly, stop doing that, you'rrre making me feel uncomfortable."

"Don't you think I look cute?" She was pouting now.

"Anyway," T'kaarch turned to T'mpest, "Thank you forrr helping me."

"Any time," T'mpest replied, grinning. "Good luck." She nodded to T'kaarch before continuing her exploration of the department.
