Transfer Request

Mission: Structured Shoreleave - Marchwiel
Location: On board USS Fairfax en route to Marchwiel
Timeline: Before the Fairfax meets up with the Ranger

ON:
Location: Captain's Ready Room, USS Fairfax

Captain Northcutt was sitting behind his desk going over a few sector reports on his PaDD when the chime went off.

He placed the PaDD down on the desk in front of him and looked up. "Enter" he said.

The sliding doors opened and in stepped the newly commissioned Ensign Rodney Blake. He wasn't the youngest officer in the fleet, but he was among them.

"Yes, Ensign, come in please." Northcutt said. "Sit down. Can I get you anything?" the Captain asked.

"Erm, no thank you, Sir" he said nervously.

"Well, you must be wondering why I have called you here." said Northcutt. "You see, Ensign, Starfleet has decided to honor your request for a transfer to the Intrepid Class Starship, USS Ranger." he said to Blake. "Now, I'm sure that you have your reasons for wanting another assignment, but after reviewing your personnel record, I'd like to ask you to sty onboard here to see if we can''t work out whatever problems you might have." Northcutt said to him.

"Sir with all due respect I would rather pursue this opportunity." he said quickly.

"Well, if that's really what you want, then I will approve your transfer. Chief Engineer Russell stated in your file that you are an excellent officer when it comes to picking up extra duty shifts and doing more then you are asked. I'm sure Captain Halliwell and her crew will...be pleased to have you with them." Northcutt stated.

He sat with a blank expression on his face. He found sudden interest in the exotic fish tank therefore, avoiding eye contact. He knew when people where lying. He wondered why his transfer was such an issue as he watched a spotted fish dive through a patch of weeds.

"Dismissed, Ensign." the Captain stated flatly. He wasn't sure exactly what was wrong with this situation, but the young man was no longer his concern. Now he would have two things to talk to Halliwell about.

Rodney Blake quickly nodded and scuttled out of the room.
