Balowlli System
Location: Medical Bay
Timeline: Current
After leaving Ensign Lee to find materials or techniques to contain the polaron field, T'kaarch walked to the Medical bay. "Doctor Fox, are you available?"
Cailean tapped the computer panel with a PaDD stylus and turned to his nurse, "Have Petty Officer Chargette come in, get a better scan of that and show me. We may have to excise it." he said, turing to the newcomer to his Sick Bay.
"What can I do for you, Ensign?" he asked.
"We've been researching polarons, you see, but one part is hard for us to envision..." T'kaarch paused to think of what to say next. "What would the result of polaron radiation be on human life?... If something goes wrong while looking at this technology, would we be in danger?" He seemed seriously concerned, bordering on scared.
"It's radiation, Ensign. What part of that word sounds good for human, or any sentient life?" he asked, shaking his head.
T'kaarch twiddled with his fingers. "I never... cared much for... biology." He said apologetically. "But if you put it that way, no, it doesn't sound... healthy." T'kaarch straightened himself. "I do think, however, that we... you, Doctor... should be prepared for the worst..."
"It's what we train for Ensign." Fox replied, "But since you're here, let's discuss this radiation a bit more. What can you tell me about the Radiations properties from a Scientific standpoint."
T'kaarch straightened up, his tail straight as an arrow. "We don't know exactly what we're dealing with yet, information in the databases are scarce. What we do know, you see, is that different Polaron theories have been applied to different fields, mostly weapons, with different effects. Generally, however, most of the damage seem to be focused on machinery... like an Electromagnetic Pulse, you see, but less controllable and immensely more potent. Ensign Lee is working on a material simulation right now, we're gonna try to make sure that whatever happens, it'll be contained."
"I'd like to see your simulations for that." Fox replied, "Containment is key, but with the levels we're talking about here, it could be quite an issue." he said. "What is your basic plan for containment?" he asked.
"I have to say, I do not know at this point. It depends a bit on the results of the simulations... Also," T'kaarch had his eyes closed, thinking about every word. "That would mainly be mister Larkin's responsibility." He opened his eyes again, and walked up to the nearest panel. "Computerrr," he commanded, "Show the current progress on Ensign Lee's Polaron simulations." The computer blipped, blacked out momentarily, then filled itself with information, including different alloys, a 3D model depicting a block of material being bombarded by what looked to be white ovalic particles, and penetration and security ratings on the materials already tested. "Doctor, look at this." he organized the data. "It seems that," *OOC: I'm making this up as I go, so if you or Larkin feels I am wrong please tell me* "the more conductive the materrrial is, the more radiation is being transferred to the other side." T'kaarch stepped to the side, and turned towards the Doctor, waiting for him to look at the data.
"Yes, of course that's safe." Fox replied sarcastically. "Because we're not on the other side of kilometers of conductive materials otherwise known as the USS Archimedes" he said, shaking his head at the display. "We're going to need to find a way to neutralize its conductivity or we'll all be boiled in radiation." he said.
"I see yourrr point." the cat purred. "But I can't think of anything which would do that... not on the top of my manes, anyway." He scratched the manes on the back of his head.
"Well it would seem we have our work cut out for us, Ensign." Fox replied. "I'll spend some time going over the data further, perhaps I can come to some kind of conclusion and together we can try to determine a fix."
"Thank you doctorrr." T'kaarch turned around and walked towards the door, only remembering his manners at the last second. He bowed slightly, and said "I'll be in the science lab if you need anything."
