817 words; about a 4 minute read

Mission: Balowlli System
Location: Corridor Junction on Deck 3
Timeline: Current

Shalie hadn't left her office too long before she found herself stepping off the turbo lift just one deck down on deck 3. She was heading for Drew's office. She had no real reason to be there, just simply wanted to annoy him a little. See how his Date went with the new Diplomatic Chief. She knew he had no clue what had been going on and this fact amused her. She only hoped for LaFaal's sake, he hadn't been his normal self.

Shalie's amused thoughts has kept her unaware of her surroundings as she turned one of the few corners in the corridor. As she collided with the officer in purple. Instinctively she reached out to steady herself and the object of her collision. Before she could get angry she recognized who the other officer was. Speak of the Devil! "Sorry Lieutenant I need to keep my eyes on where I am walking...I am Lieutenant Shalie Montgomery Chief of Operations...I don't think we have officially met." With that she extended her hand in greeting.

Yvette ducked down to collect the fallen PADD's after steadying herself, but made a point of looking the Operations officer over. "Lieutenant Yvette LaFaal, Diplomatic Chief. Nice to meet you Lieutenant".
She finished collecting up her items and stood in front of her, still feeling a little difficult after her meeting with Lieutenant O'Connell.

Shalie felt a little awkward, not sure what to do now. Deciding it was best to start a conversation. "So...how are you liking the Archimedes?..." Curiosity got the better of her. she had intended to ask Drew how the meeting had gone, but what could be more fun then getting both sides. "So...O'Connell make his introduction yet?" She smiled.

"Yes!", was all she said before starting to move off down the corridor. This was not something she really wanted to discuss with someone she didn't know. But then it hit her and she stopped and turned to face her. "What do you know about him Lieutenant?"

Shalie hasn't expected the question. Not that she had any issues answering. "Well, him and I were stationed on the USS Rook together. He was born in Ireland." she tapped her foot as she thought of the potential answers to the question. As she had pointed out to Drew in their last conversation she didn't know much about him. She once again laughed at the thought. "To be honest I don't know much other then he is an ass...and alienates most people at some point."

"That I've noticed", she mumbled under her breath, not realising that she was a little louder than she had wanted. Quickly again she asked another question to avoid Shalie's inquisitive look. "Does he often lead women up the garden path and then shoot them down without warning!", and then she winced at the amount of venom that began to seep into her tone.

"Uh.." Shalie paused for a moment. Apparently the meeting didn't go so well, and to think Drew had thought she would screw it up. "Well...first off I am not the best person to ask...I still haven't figured out how or even why him and I are friends...Second, Drew is on a self induced downward spiral...so I wouldn't take anything to personally...he is either distance or uses you to his advantage."

"Jee... You don't say!", and again she winced regretting the insult that she had slung her way. Maybe she had been more attracted to Drew than she had first thought. "I'm sorry Lieutenant. As you can probably tell, my meeting with Lieutenant O'Connell didn't go that well, and no, I don't really want to talk about it and yes, I'm not normally this irract... ever".
Somehow she suspected that Shalie wouldn't believe her.

"Right well...you don't need to talk about it...if I want to know I can ask Drew." Shalie started, it wasn't until the words had left her mouth that realized she shouldn't have said anything. "All I can say is either run away or deal with it...not many other options." She paused not much else to say. The awkward silence feeling the space between the two women that had some interest in Drew O'Connell.

With no words, just a look that would have frozen a Plygorian Mamoth on the spot with fear was communicated between the two women. Things had not gone well with this first meeting between the two women, and Yvette couldn't see it improving in the future.

"Well, I am bored and was just on my way to go bug O'Connell." Shalie started, it wasn't hard to see this had gone all wrong. Which in the grand scheme of things was the norm. "Have a good day Lieutenant." with that sure turned and headed towards the Chief Intelligence Office.
