Mission: Shoreleave - Welcoming Old Friends and New
Location: Montgomery's Quarters
Timeline: Prior to "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner "

Shalie was more then ready for a few days off despite the short amount of time she had spent aboard the Archimedes. She easily slipped on the black tank top before finding her shoes. She had requested to be notified with the new CMO was aboard and was looking forward to meeting him. Whatever medication the Andorian had given her the first time still made her muscle ache. It was a good thing she didn't feel like getting court marshaled or that doctor would have become acquainted with her fist.

[Sickbay]

Shalie entered the sickbay and was not surprised to find it less then busy. She spotted a man with graying hair standing towards the back of the room and called to him calmly. Excuse me...I was notified that the CMO was on board...do you happen to know where I can find him?"

"That would be me, miss." he replied, turning around only after he had finished and smiling politely. "What can I do for you?" he asked.

Shalie was slightly taken aback by the doctor. He reminded her of someone but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. And his voice....it was strangely familiar. It wasn't until she realized she was staring that she finally spoke. "I...I'm Shalie Montgomery...I was told that you would be able to fix my shoulder..." She shook her head before she restarted her statement. "I am Lieutenant Shalie Montgomery...I have a chronic shoulder issue and one of your medical officers said that you had the training to fix it."

"Doctor th'Zahn?" he asked, gesturing to one of the nearby bio beds and walking towards it.

"Uh I guess...Bule guy....kind of surley." Shalie said as she moved towards the bio bed. Taking a seat on the bed. The ache in her arm throbbing as she moved her arm slightly.

"Let's have a look shall we?" he said, flipping open a tricorder with a flourish and quietly reading its screen. He smirked to himself after a moment before flipping it closed and stowing it in his lab coat.

"Doctor th'Zahn treated you?" he asked

Shalie didn't say anything. She just nodded in response. She wasn't sure what he was getting at.

"Gave you something for the pain too, yes?" he added.

"I guess you could say that. It doesn't seem to work well." Shalie had a slightly higher pain tolerance then most, but it was bothering her. And with her shore leave coming up she wanted it fixed once and for all.

"Rathaprobaline, it dulls the pain but calcifies in disjointed junctions such as this if anything more than basic movements is attempted." Fox replied, smirking, "Very clever on the Doctor's part." he added. "Judging by the spread of the drug you've not been keeping off your arm as directed." he continued. "I'm surprised you're not in considerable pain."

"Well that depends on your idea of considerable...it radiates down my arm, but I can ignore it when I need to." Shalie said as she clenched and relaxed her fist I'm gunna kill him.... "And I am not good at doing what I am told....it is a character flaw" She still could shake the fact that she knew him.

"Yes, well." Fox replied, turning around to fill a hypo before returning to her. "This will take care of the pain in the socket." he said, pressing the hypo into her neck and standing behind her on the opposing side of the bio bed.

Shalie cocked her head questioningly. "Pain in the socket??" She watched as he walked behind her and didn't think anything of it as he pressed the hypospray into her neck.

Fox smiled quietly back and gingerly lifted her arm outwards. "Easy." he said, guiding his hand smoothly across her shoulder. "Have plans for shore leave?" he asked.

"Well...I am going to a friends home town..." Shalie tried to state.

Just as Shalie got a few words into her sentence, Fox pushed hard into the socket and pulled her arm, dislocating her shoulder with a wet squelch.

Shalie's breath quickened as the familiar sensation radiated though her body. The hypo spray did little to dull the pain. She gripped the edge of the table as if she would fall off if she didn't. She emptied all the lungs out of her lungs. "WOW that sucks....almost as bad as the last time..." She took a few more quick breaths. "You aren't planning on leaving it out for 3 days are you?" She said in an attempted joke.

"The clever part of the Rathaprobaline is that, in instances like this where your shoulder bone is wearing against the socket, it calcifies only on the areas where there is bone to bone contact, which leaves a nice guide for me to clear up." Fox replied. He held her shoulder up with one hand, as well as a tricorder, while moving his other along the shoulder socket with a small tool in his hand. "So.. by removing the calcification, I can also remove the problem that's causing the pain." he continued.

After a few quiet moments, he set the tool down as well as the tricorder.

"On the count of three, we'll reattach. Ready?"

"Do I have much of a choice?" Shalie asked though clenched teeth.

"All right. Ready, here we go. One." With an heave he shoved her shoulder back into socket with the same sickening squelch. "And we're done." he smiled, picking up his tools and returning them to their place.

The pain was gone...that wasn't to mean that it didn't ache, but the discomfort was nowhere near as bad as it had been. She let out a relaxed sigh as she slowly moved her arm to her lap, almost cradling it. "Thanks doc...so two things...any restrictions? and what are the chances it will pop out again?"

"Well, with my treatment, it won't come back out... unless you go out of your way to do otherwise." Fox replied, walking across the Medical bay behind her and disappearing in an alcove before wandering back and placing a black bundle on the bed beside her. "Now this is an incredibly high-tech piece of medical technology." he began seriously, looking her in the eye. "And I'm ordering you to use it to its fullest extent." he added.

Shalie looked at the bundle...knowing exactly what it was. This was going to be the second time in less than a month she would be wearing one. This was going to make her shore leave a little interesting.

Fox didn't say a word, just slid the black fabric under her arm and then attached it over her shoulder, watching the comprehension cross her face. "Now I'll tell you this just one time." he said, pulling the straps of the sling tighter to hold her arm against her chest. "There are no painkillers now. The muscles and the socket joint need to heal on their own. That means, that if you move this arm at all, the pain you feel will make what you felt before seem like pinpricks." he clarified, meeting her gaze seriously. "One week. Then you come back and see me and, if you've kept off it like you're supposed to, perhaps we can have it off." he said stepping back from the bed. "Questions?" he asked.

"No....thanks." Shalie said. She understood what he had told her...she just doubted she would succeed at his directions...but she was a least going to try. She carefully slid off the bio bed, not wanting to disturb the newly repaired muscles. "Are you staying on board or leaving?...I am going to be in Ireland for most of the next two weeks, but I can come back for the follow up."

"I should be here." Fox replied, smiling.

"Gravy....see you then" Shalie said with a smile, hiding the wince as she turned to quickly. Now to pack and get down to some town in Ireland. This was going to be interesting.
