After Mabren finished with the Trill guests, he had another spot to stop at. The Captain's quarters. He had a rather small patient to see. Walking back down the corridor, Mabren went back to the computer console to find out where to go next.

"Computer, Captain's quarters," he asked, looking at the layout before heading off in the right direction. It was a rather short walk until he found the right door. Pressing the call button, he waited.

Lane stood in his quarters, turning around his personal console as he spoke. "Enter," he called out, craning his neck see who it was. "Ah, Doctor Mabren. What can I do for you today?"

After walking in, Mabren glanced around before seeing the Captain, "Evening, Captain. I was wondering if your daughter was here?"

"Yes, she is," he replied with a curious smile. "I think you'll find her in her room."

"Alright," Mabren said, moving off in a direction and then stopping. "Uhm... Which room? And it's just a simple little inoculation for the radiation."

"No problem, Doctor," Lane said with a knowing smile. "It's the one to left."

The Trill chuckled to himself, knowing full well what he was walking into. Lorelai was sat on her bedroom floor, tapping away at a padd for her homework.

As Mabren moved towards the right room this time, he reached into his pockets and pulled out the hypo and inserted the vial, before returning it to his left pocket. Walking up to the door, he knocked on the door frame.

"Come in," she called out, looking up from her padd. "Doctor, how are you?"

Smiling at Lorelai, Mabren knelled down in front of her, "I'm doing pretty good. How about yourself?"

"Could be better," she said, raising her eyebrows, her green eyes searching his for a reaction. "You wanna play? My Dad… just gave me this." Pulling a red and yellow paper finger sleeve from her pocket, Lorelai smoothly, and quickly slid the doctor's open hand, his index finger to be precise, into it, locking her own into the other end.

"My Dad calls this a Chinese Finger Trap. He regrets giving it to me now. Think you can beat it?" The girl giggled with mischievous delight.

"Well, aren't you a sneaky one!" Mabren exclaimed, pulling back on the finger trap, feeling it grab his finger tighter. He continued to pull on the sleeve before finally saying, "Well, I have no idea what to do. It's a perfect trap." He hoped that his poker face was able to convince the little one, but he was never good at poker.

"Nana Gray and me were attached for almost a week before she had figured out how to release it!" she cried with joy, blatantly over-emphasising. "I had to figure it out myself."

"Well," Mabren said, "At least then she would be able to keep a very close eye on you. To keep you out of trouble."

"She does try," she replied. "Now, Doctor," she said, smiling sweetly, "what are you here for?"

Mabren adjusted his smock, bringing up the left side so he could get to the pocket. "I wished it could just be a few questions, but..." He pulled out the hypospray. "I have to give you a shot."

"I'm allergic to shots," she said, a subtle twinkle in her eye. "And, Nana Gray told me that I don't have to have anything I don't want to. I like being sick. I don't have to go to school, then."

Mabren laughed at the innocence of Lorelai, "This is a sick you don't want. And this is a shot that you're not allergic to. I assure you."

"I think I'd still rather not, thank you," she said, shrugging her shoulders. And then she thought a little in silence. "How sick?" she asked.

"Uhm..." Mabren didn't know what to say. Radiation poisoning is not a pretty sight. To buy some time, Mabren changed position before rubbing his knees a bit. "Lets just say very sick. Exhaustion, vomiting... And that's just the start." Flicking his glaze at her pony tail, he leaned in and whispered, "Hair loss."

"Only if you promise I'm not allergic, you can zap me. I like my hair."

"I promise," he said, "And if you don't believe me still, I'll give myself a shot first."

"Deal," she said, as she released the finger trap. "But you first…"

"Ok," he said, pressing the hypo against his upper arm and then pressing the activator. "Your turn," he continued, placing the hypo against Lorelai's upper arm and activating the stream of medicine. "There you go. All done. Didn't hurt did it?

"No…" she replied with a smile, admiring her arm with wonderment. "Not yet."

Mabren smiled down at Lorelai as he got up to leave, "Well, you know where to find me if you feel like your having any problems. Now, I need to talk to your dad." Turning, he walked back into the main living area to talk with the Captain. "Lovely little girl you have there."

The Captain smiled with pride. Not matter how many time he heard those words, he beamed. "Thank you, Doctor," he replied. "She's a credit to me, I have to admit that." He paused a little grinned. "I see you've managed to be released from that finger trap I foolishly gave her."

"Yes," Mabren said, glancing back at the girls room he continue, "The little minx had to show me how to get out of it." Looking back to the Captain, he smiled, "Perhaps you should take it away from her. She seems to enjoy it a bit too much."

"When she becomes permanently attached to someone, then I might consider it," he said with a chuckle. "Now, is there anything else I can do for you, Gustav?"

"Just one last thing," Mabren said, before handing over the hypo, "To be on the safe side, she'll need a shot every twenty four hours. The crew will be receiving the same."

"Understood, Doctor," Lane replied, lifting up his hand to take the hypospray from him. "Since we're in orbit and still running on a skeletal crew, have everyone report to sickbay for them. Unless you enjoy the old fashioned house-calls."

"House calls are for special patients," Mabren said, a glint in his eyes before he continued, "The rest of the crew will be rotated through sickbay."

"Naturally," he replied, raising a hand in the air as a gesture. "Inform me when you are done, and then Lieutenant Sheedy. I believe she is preparing the pulse-radiation for delivery."

"Yes, sir, she is. Should be a few hours. And I'll have everyone rotated through for their shots. Enjoy your night Captain," he bid as goodbye before he left the quarters.
