Mission: A Civil Act
Location: Ranger

Excerpt from "Back At The Watch House".

A look of confusion washed over Ka's face. 'Away team?' she thought. 'I know nothing of any away team...' With that, she took the took kit and shoved it into the crewman's chest. "Put that away, I've got to see a man about a goat." With that, she quickly marched out of Main Engineering and towards the bridge.

And now the continuation...

As Ka exited the turbolift onto the bridge, her limp was noticeable. She hobbled forward and clutched the railing, looking over the command staff that would have been seated and out onto the view screen only to see some unknown planet. Ka hated these nameless planets. They had taken more from her in the past than she cared to admit. "Looks like we're out playing Indiana Jones again..." She said aloud.

"I see you know our Captain." Keen said as he turned to face the Engineer. "I am Counselor Keen, I do not think I have had the pleasure of meeting you?" He stood up and offered a hand shake.

"I know Starfleet Captain's." Ka stated flatly as she turned and made her way down to Keen's position, limping slightly the entire way. As she approached, she took his hand and half smiled. "Lieutenant Rebecca Drezner, but I go by Ka." She shook his hand heartily. "Pleasure to meet you, Commander."

"I am Keen Morai." He gave a smile. "Currently in command with the Captain and XO on the surface." He smiled. "Is there something I can do for you?"

Shaking her head in the negative, Ka sighed. "No. No Commander. I just thought..." She paused for a moment. "I just assumed that as a member of the senior staff I would have been briefed, or included, or at least somehow alerted that we were going to have crew off the ship. Especially with high profile targets such as the XO and the CO." The engineer paused for a moment as she gently slapped her outside thighs. "Perhaps it was simply overlooked in the staff shakeup down in Engineering." Ka stopped tapping her thighs and began to rub the palms of her hands together in front of her. "So uh... Can I get that briefing?" Quizzed Ka, thinking that there might be something relevant that she needed to know in order to maintain mission integrity.

Miral pulled up the relevant data and loaded it onto a PADD. She walked over to Ka and handed it to her. "Here you go, ma'am."

After handing the PADD to Ka, she went back to her station.

Keen tapped in chair arm to open a channel. "Bridge to Transporter Room, keep a firm lock on the away team while they'll down there. They are counting on us to get them out of trouble if needed."

Again Blake nodded as Keen spoke, given their past missions he suspected that call for help would come sooner than later.

"I have everyone but the captain, sir." The disembodied voice reported. "She appears to have entered a subterranean area that I'm having trouble getting a fix through the surface."

"Science, get me a scan of the area and confirm the Landing Party, especially the Captain." Keen was not going to panic yet, it could be one of many things, the sensors should be able to pin point her this close to the surface.

"Give me a moment, Commanderrr," T'kaarch quickly did a lifesign scan; not enough to give the transporter anything to lock on to, but good enough to find any life signs unless blocked by significant material. "The whole away team is accounted forrr, Commanderrrr," T'kaarch purred, "2 crrrewmemberrrs arrre now with the captain arrround 4 meterrrs deep."

Miral walked onto the bridge and took one of the empty stations. She didn't want to step on any toes, but she was going to be there in case Commander Keen needed her to do any Intel research.

"Lieutenant Miral." Keen noticed the Intel Officer. "There should be some datum coming through after the first reports from the surface." He began. "Have you come up to get ready for the data flow?"

"Yes, sir. And to be here in case you need me for anything," she said.

"Glad to have you about." Keen agreed. "If all goes well we will be like the old chauffeur that sits in the car reading and waiting for the Passengers to get back."

"If we're lucky," she said. She turned back to her station and watched the away team's bio-signatures move across the surface. going into the occasional building before moving on.

"Mr. Blake, do think it would be an insult if I asked if one of your OPS personnel could do a coffee run, I have a newborn and admit I could use one to keep up with this exciting pace."

The newly promoted Commander Blake forcibly bit his tongue at Keen's cheeky request momentarily uncertain if he was joking or otherwise. "I'm sure they could be persuaded," he grimaced.
