Mission: A Civil Act
Location: Conference Room

ON

T'mpest gave her senior staff as much time and information as she could before calling the next meeting. But, with the ship a day away from their destination, it was time to get everyone together and find out what they'd learned -- and to finalize who would and would not be on the away team.

As it was afternoon, she set out a bowl filled with assorted fruit, three plates of cookies and a variety of drinks.

T'mpest and Rylie had not spoken of the mission in the past week, and T'mpest hoped they could get past their disagreement and work together on this.

Keen came into the room with what seemed a small Barrel of rakijino and from the smell very little sweetener to take away from the caffeine. He was not bright eyed nor bushy tailed yet he was on the functional list considering he had a new baby he seemed very alert on the surface.

"Greetings Captain." He even managed not to stifle a yawn. "Seems I have gotten here first?" He smiled. "Testament to my catching sleep between feedings or enough of this..." He raised his cup slightly. "to compensate for the lack?"

"Greetings, Commander. That works, as long as you have nothing too taxing on your plate. I understand that newborns are quite an adjustment," the Captain replied.

"Hello Captain, Commanderrr Keen." T'kaarch purred as he walked in surprisingly early. "How's the little one, Commanderrr?"

"Very well thank you." Keen replied. "He and his mother are sleeping last I checked." He smiled brightly. "They both can use it as they are... getting used to one another." He laughed. "A sight I could never tire of."

"Indeed. I am glad you were able to make it to the meeting," she said to Keen. T'mpest turned to T'kaarch. "Welcome, Lieutenant."

"Thank you, captain." T'kaarch purred as he sat down.

Jensen entered the room and smiled at everyone present. "Greetings Captain, Lieutenant Commander Keen, Lieutenant T'kaarch. How is everyone fairing today?" He set about grabbing a few things to much on, since he'd missed getting anything at lunch time due to a few crew check-ups and needing to take time to meditate. Having had the chance to talk things out with Cattmor had helped a bit in that regard and his meetings with Ensign Zinovia had also been helpful; the Betazoid man had been much better at helping Jensen counteract the onslaught of emotion from the crew and improving his ability to meditate. Jensen chose an apple to much on as well as a few cookies and just took a glass of water to sip on, before finally taking his seat.

"Welcome, Doctor Foster," T'mpest replied. "Good to see you."

Nodding at the three of them, he spoke to Keen, "And how is everything going with little Anthony, Lieutenant Commander?"

"Healthy and feeding all the time." Keen replied proudly. "Seems he is in a mood to grow by the way he acts, but he does have eyes for his mother, I am almost jealous on occasion." He was trying that joking thing.

Cattmor was almost late to the briefing, though she wasn't the last to arrive, and the non-mission specific conversations on the other side of the door told her that they were still in the greeting stage. She'd obviously heard of the Keen's baby being born, and on some level, even envied the occasion, but on another level, would not want to trade with them; at some point, she wanted to start a family, or at the very least was not opposed to the idea, but that was not her plan right now. Right now, her plan consisted of getting through this mission without any mishaps, or problems, or errors of judgement. Good luck, she thought to herself as she allowed the doors to open and she walked through. "Good afternoon, all." she stated to no-one in particular as she made a beeline for the coffee on offer and took her seat, "and congratulation Commander." she motioned to Morai. She'd already had something to eat, so saw little value in filling up on the carbs laid out on the table as well. She'd also picked up on the conversation regarding Anthony and Ariana, so neglected to ask, in some way hopeing that Morai understood--answering the same question by so many...

Fearing he'd be late from the briefing Blake hurried into the conference room and was relieved to note there were still a few faces outstanding. Blowing out a sigh of relief Dylan sat down to ease his throbbing feet since he was running a man down and prepping from a lengthy study of the new location be felt spent.

When everyone had arrived and taken their seats, T'mpest stood. "Thank you all for coming again. What additional information have you come up with?"

"Captain," T'kaarch purred, "Initial analysis of the long rrrange scans of the starrr, and frrrom this rrrange it seems to be just a starrr as any otherrr, it's quite littuary averrrage forrr it's size."

"Thank you. Do you have anything else?" T'mpest asked.

"I had an idea forrr a detailed analysis forrr the starrr when we get therrre, which I wanted to discuss." T'kaarch continued, "I wanted to put a prrrobe on a decaying orrrbit arrround the starrr, giving us inforrrmation about each layerrr of the starrr until it eventually burrrns up."

"That's not a bad idea." Rylie said. "We may want to do something similar with the planet, to test for any abnormalities there as well, and to correlate the data."

"How many away teams will we be putting down after the initial suvey Captain, this is a strictly scientific mission?" Keen asked, knowing the science bunch will be aching to get to the surface.

"One. It's primarily science, but I would like engineering and ops to see what we can find. And security and medical," T'mpest added.
