Mission: What Dreams May Come
Location: USS Ranger

Keen sat with his Kitten nestled close; he kept the phaser ready for any danger that might come calling. The fact they were huddled again in a corner of a small area hiding reminded him of Breen and other dangers they had survived together. He had to admit danger seemed to find them and not the mundane type, but weird. How many Breen/Borgs are there in the universe? The danger of being assimilated had nothing to the fear that his wife would take their child away from him. The fact he had even considered that seemed a bit far-fetched.

"You know, at least we always seem to end up hiding together." Keen noted with a lighter tone. "The prophets still believe in the power of love to conquer; separate we might not be as ready for the dangers you know?"

His voice startled Adriana. She'd been distracted- every little sound had her fearing the door would suddenly open for Brex, or that he would gain access to the transporter system and suddenly beam her away, possibly onto a shuttle where he'd have her at his mercy. She jumped as her husband spoke and turned to him. "What?" she asked. "Sorry, I- I wasn't paying attention." She started watching the door again, biting her lower lip nervously.

"Isn't it a little funny that we always seem to end up hiding together?" He repeated. "I mean all the dangers we have faced, we end up together and such." He tried not to chuckle. "Here we are again in a place where we are hiding and in our own little world."

She looked at him like he was crazy. "Keen Cat are you feeling alright? I thought I was the one who got conked on the head," she said as she lifted a hand and touched her bruised face.

"No, I am quite fine, to think that we saw a man who never leaves Bajor chasing us, that we are here together again in our own little part of the universe. I have my Kitten adn for some reason I know it will all be fine in the end." HE chuckled. "No real reason to think that way and I find that either unnerving or funny?"

"I don't see what's so funny about Brex wanting to hurt Little One. You know he'd do it if he could." She shuddered. "God only knows what someone like him would do to a half human baby."

"He can't..." Keen finally said. "There is someone playing a bad joke upon us, he would never leave his seat of power and if he did he would lose his seat as someone else would fill it." The Tricorder began to register the gases seeping through the air, it was a mix he kind of knew but did not realize the potential until now. "Laughing type gases..." He remarked to himself.

"What?" she asked and started again, pulling back and away.

"The Medical teams are trying to get things more light hearted." Keen assured his wife. "This has all been an illusion... You really do love me and I was stupid...." He started to laugh. "How could I have thought of becoming that old man again.... for what?" He began to laugh at the thought he had even stepped upon a dark road for no reason.

"Morai? What are you talking about? Of course I love you. What is so funny?" she asked.

Keen lean over and kissed his wife for no reason other than she is right there and he could have her to himself. He put a lot of his passions in the kiss.

Adriana did not expect a kiss right now- much less such a passionate kiss in this situation. But she couldn't help but smile, just a little. A kiss from her husband always made her feel relaxed and loved. "Where did that come from?" she asked as she leaned her forehead against his.

"I love my wife and know everything will be okay." He told her. "If nothing has come by now nothing will." He laughed. "I think we have won."

She smiled at him and shook her head. "What has gotten into you? You're acting like you haven't got a care in the universe."

He shows the tricorder. "No one anywhere near us love... we won." He kissed her again or a long moment. "Little One is safe." He chuckled.

Adriana took the tricorder and read over the screen. They were the only vital signs nearby. Her smile was a little uncertain but it was there. "Morai... are you sure Brex wouldn't leave Bajor? Not even to hurt you and me and our Little One?"

"Not to lose his power base." He smiled. "He only has power while on Betazed." He held her tight. "I have him on a watched list so he cannot get that close."

She smiled at him again, a little broader this time. "You're sure," she said, more a statement than a question. Of course he was sure. Morai was very careful about his words, unlike she was who blurted things out without thinking. He wouldn't tell her that Brex was no threat here if he wasn't certain. "God, Morai, I was so scared- I was positive I saw him- several times- Maybe I'm just going crazy..."

"IT is in the air; the craziness I mean." Keen told her. " I realized that I am not even a fish in the pond, Bajor is a pond and easy for anyone to know where a 'Hero' is but out in the stars I am only your husband and Little One's Father, how would Brex even know about you being pregnant. Only the Kai knows and I am sure he is not talking to Brex." Keen chuckled.

Adriana giggled, just a little. "Pretty vain of us, huh? To think that the whole universe is concerned with us and our baby. We're just two people; other than our families and friends, who really cares that much about our baby?"

"No one else is important enough to care." He gave her a squeeze. "We are actually safe; no way Brex or anyone is out to hurt Little One." He smiled to her and kissed her stomach. "No one is out to hurt you, my Little One."

Adriana laughed outright and ran her fingers through her husband's hair. "That's right. Papa and Mommie will take care of you. Don't you worry, Little One. You're going to be most loved being in this galaxy."

"Come on, Kitten, it is time we can go home and let you rest on non-hard ground?" He offered a hand after getting up. "I should start by checking in with the bridge ... or getting a comm badge?" He laughed.

She reached for his hand and let him help her to her feet. "Home sounds great, Keen Cat." She pulled him close enough for a kiss. "Thank you for sticking with me. I couldn't have made it without you."

"That is what marriage is about." He winked to her. "Now let's get the Mommie back into comfort." He started towards their quarters.
