Mission: What Dreams May Come
ON
The quarters were dark, as they had been for the past hour and a half, and the area was still and quiet, even eerie in a Federation standard kind of way. However, that's not what bothered Cattmor as she sat on the floor at the foot of the bed, her knees tucked up under her chin, and her arms folded around them to keep them there. Her head was throbbing, and had been ever since she woke by the couch in the living area. With the room itself so quiet, she knew that her imaginings had left her once again for the time being, but as she was sitting there practically in a daze, she was wishing that the surrounding areas were as quiet as her quarters.
She was unable to block any of it out, as every single thought that anyone had within a fifty metre radius was pummelling into her consciousness like a sledge hammer into a brick wall attempting to demolish it. Ensign Parsons from across the hall was sleeping but having a nightmare about huge flocks of attacking black birds. Petty Officer Lang on the floor below imagined she was being overtaken and crushed by trees, heightening her already hard to control claustrophobia. Miss Hur'an was being consumed by burrowing Jickaleen insects which were already crawling between the muscle fibres and her epidermis. Chief Folpose was close to clawing his own eyes out just to make his hallucinations stop. Lieutenant's Galloway and Vos were having an argument regarding which one was best suited for a new post about to be set up in one of the science labs, were about to come to blows before security stepped in, one of whom also deciding that Vos was growing tubes and implants not unlike a Borg drone and subsequently pulled a phaser and stunned him.
The situation on board ship was slowly going from bad to worse as the nightmares and hallucinations took their toll on the crew.
Rylie then winced and instinctively put her hand on her side as she felt the sharp pain as if she'd just been stabbed, then picked up the face of the intelligence officer she'd spent some time with previously on Landreah, Miral, knife already in hand and barricading herself in her own quarters. Then a Bajoran face, not one of the crew as far as she was aware came to mind, weathered features and piercing blue eyes. She tightened her eyes more, if they could be squeezed shut any more than they were, and doubled her efforts to close the doors in her mind on the rest of the crew. "You never were any good at blocking." she said quietly to herself through a clenched jaw.

"Lieutenant," Blake gushed having recovered from being rammed into. "Did you scream, are you alright?" he asked looking around the corridor.
Miranda shook her head to clear it. "I, uh..." She looked around, not seeing the rabbit. "There was a Vorpal Bunny... It tried to bite my neck."
"A what?" Dylan asked squinting slightly as if he'd misheard her. "I can't see anything, are you sure?"
She sighed. "A rabbit with big, sharp pointy teeth. If you don't stay away from it, it'll tear out your throat. It went that way," she said, pointing down the corridor. "And yes, I'm sure. I've seen Spamalot twenty times."
"What-lot?" Blake asked feeling even more confused. "Between your bunny thing and the lake in my room...something really weird is going on."
"You've a lake thing in your room?" Miranda asked. She wondered, briefly, if the Lieutenant could lure the rabbit into his room and see how it handled the lake. She shook her head. No, she wasn't going to ask that. "Yes, there is definitely something going on around here."
She noticed his state of undress and blushed. "I'm, uh, sorry, sir. I think I should go now. Good luck with the sharks...and bunnies. I'll let security know there's a rabid rabbit on the loose. Or maybe not. Bye."
Feeling awkward and a little like Alice who'd just fallen down the rabbit hole, Miranda turned and ran to her quarters.
Feeling even more confused Blake watched the Lieutenant scamper away and shook his head. "What the hell have we got ourselves into?" he questioned. Then catching his reflection on the access panel closeby he flexed a muscle. "Do I really look that bad? I must be loosing my touch."
