Mission: What Dreams May Come

[OLD]
Disruptor fire flew past his head as Orin and Morgana gave cover fire to Jack and John who were being chased by Orion troops. In John's hands was Cross, who looked in bad shape as Jack was helping a wounded unidentified officer get away. Something felt horribly wrong because as tough as Orin seemed firing his weapon the sadness of seeing Cross, and not seeing Blake, was an image he couldn't shake. As the image changed, now inside the shuttle, the team escaped through the atmosphere as Orin and Morgana struggled to treat his fatal wounds. The only thing that seemed to echo in the whole image was Cross's voice repeating "Where's Sin? Where's my brother? We need to go back." Than silence as Cross went limp on the planning table, Orin continuing to squeeze his hand as Jack broke the atmosphere and plotted a course to the rendezvous.

T'mpest's heart went out to the people in the memory, especially Orin, and she wished she could offer him some form of comfort. Her mind flashed through the faces of those who had died under her command and her heart ached for those she could not save. She mentally reached out to him and then paused, unsure of how the gesture would be received.
And then her Vulcan resolve asserted itself and she slowly began to back out of the meld.
Orin's heart raced, not only from the mixture of emotions, but the amount of exertion it was facing the memories. Although a part of him didn't want to break the meld, he knew it was important to do so. Slowly, but surly, he backed his mind away from the meld. Placing his shaking hands on the side of her face as he rested his forehead against hers. Morgana's voice slowly began fade in, as well as the pounding on the office door.
"Orin! Captain!" The loud British voice began to sound as clear as day.
Soon a much stronger pounding began to come from the door. "Boss! Yo, Boss!! It's D. Give us a shout so we know you and the Captain are still alive in there."
The meld broken, she felt oddly empty without the link. She was trembling and let her hands fall to his shoulders partly for support and partly to hold on a bit longer. She took a deep breath as the voices began to penetrate her thoughts. "Perhaps," she said quietly, "You should answer them before they break in."
"Computer: Unlock office door." Orin said weakly as he placed his hands on her hips and rested his forehead to hers. The held brought them closer, but left them both weakened by its effects. Neither him, nor T'mpest, were strong enough to block the effects haunting effects that turned the ship upside down. As he opened his eyes to look at T'mpest, the blinding light from the opened office down forced him to cringe and turn away.
"Sorry, Boss." John said as he walk in quickly with Morgana. As soon as Morgana passed through the door, John quickly touched the small control console on the wall to shut the door and block off the light.
Morgana walked in, placing her hand on Orin's shoulder and forearm to lead him to a nearby chair. "Sit down, Sir. You look like you're about to collapse."
"Don't mind me, DeViro. Tend to the Captain. I'm fine." Orin replied as he moved slowly to the nearby seat and sat down, tilting his head back to keep the room from spinning.
Morgana quickly went to the Captain and placed her hand on her back and arm. "Let me help you to a seat, Ma'am. You should get off your feet for a bit."
While Morgana helped the Captain to her seat, and did what she normally did, John walked over to Orin's desk and tapped on the console. He paused slightly, noticing the crack in it that was made by Orin earlier. "You know, Boss. If you didn't like what was on the monitor, ya could have turned it off manually."
"It was an accident, Petty Officer." Orin said breathing a bit heavy as he opened his eyes and looked over to his teammate. "Rush of anger. It happened unexpectedly."
John nodded, smirking slightly, as he looked over to Orin. "Try not to make it a habit. I don't think Engineering and Ops has many of these things in stock."
Morgana placed the Captain in a seat and placed her hand on her forehead. She than placed her fingers on the side of her neck and mentally counted the beats she felt from her racing pulse. "Are you alright, Captain? Do you want something to drink?"
"No, Morgana," T'mpest assured her. "I'm fine. It was an experiment, suggested by Orin. It was ... a bit more taxing than we expected." She closed her eyes and slowed her breathing and her pulse. Another moment and her eyes opened. "As you can see, I am quite recovered." She put her hand on the back of the chair and stood. "I will leave you to take care of your boss." There were too many people here and she needed to mull over what happened.
Morgana raised her brow slightly, looking over to John who was as equally confused as she was. He just shrugged it off and went back to checking the computer. Morgana nodded her head and stood up, allowing the Captain to pass.
Orin quickly stood up from his chair, taking a step to T'mpest to catch her before she walked away. He took her hand in his and turned her around slightly, easing closer to her as he looked her in her eyes. "T'mpest... umm.. Captain. Are you still experiencing the voices? Did it, in anyway, help?" He said softly to her as he wanted to place his hand back on her face, but stopping himself before he did so.
She paused for a long moment, her hand still in his, and listened. "They are still there, but farther away." However, for the time they were in the meld, there'd been nothing but Orin. She wanted to stay and talk about what happened, or just hold on to the lingering effects of the meld, but not with the others hovering around. She stepped back, her hand slipping from his; two fingers lingered for the briefest of moments in a Vulcan caress. "Your team needs to assure themselves that you are well," she said quietly.
