Rodney said "Commander, I may have found something. It seems Jubb has been under investigation during the Dominion war... But, eh, I don't have the clearance to see the entire file." He added apologetically.

"I do," she said, walking over to Rodney's station. She still had her clearances from when she worked in Intel. "Show me what you found."

A few taps made the information show up. "Investigation report on suspect Captain Jubb and first officer Commander Martindale, Security clearance Beta required to view."

T'mpest raised an eyebrow. She was surprised at the level of protection. She entered in her security clearance and nodded to Rodney to continue.

A flood of information appeared on screen, starting with a conclusion. "Starfleet has ruled that all blame of the terrorist attack of Landreah, and the mass murder of which is resulted, can be attributed to Commander Martindale. Commander Martindale will be posthumously stripped of all honours and rank bestowed upon him. Captain Jubb will be reprimanded for the event taking place under his responsibility. He will not be extradited to the Lantiri people, as Starfleet judges his negligence not severe enough for the circumstances in a confusing situation."

"I would like to see the initial data, before the ruling," T'mpest said. "Can you get that for me?"

"On it," Rodney answered as he started scanning through the data, filtering out interesting tidbits.

She turned to Blake. "What have you found from the planet?"

In between trying to sooth things over with Adriana and gathering the information for Commander Michaels, Dylan hadn't summarised the events in the surface. He reviewed his screen with a scowl, "Looks like someone's gone to town," he commented. "There's a media frenzy about Jubb, most of it utter speculation without many honest facts."

T'mpest sighed. "I was afraid of that. Keep a copy of all information. We may need it later."

Adriana leaned down over Blake's shoulder. "Chief... Do you know- Can you tell- What does the Landreah legal system say about the punishment for those who are found guilty of war crimes? Or of colluding with those who are found guilty?" she asked quietly, fearfully. She bit her lower lip nervously. Some planets still allowed for the Death Penalty. The Federation didn't have the death penalty anymore, hadn't for close to a hundred years. But Landreah was not part of the Federation.

"I'm not sure if I should tell you Adriana," Blake replied after a pause. "It will only make you feel worse, and me too."

Adriana turned pale but she grabbed her Department Head's collar in a steely grip, acting for a moment as if he were her younger brother trying to talk back to her and not an officer. Her fear and the infuriating lack of information were making her a little irrational. "Tell. Me," she half demanded, half begged.

With his longer arm Dylan rested his hands upon her shoulders prying her back slightly, "Look, I know you're upset and you're properly not thinking straight, don't you think I am too? But this won't help you, nor will it help your husband."

"And leaving me in the dark will? Dammit, I am with child, I am not a child. I think I deserve to know the facts here, and what we- what I- what could happen," she insisted. She was worried, she was furious, she was scared, and she didn't know enough. She had to know the worst so she could prepare for it, so she could start to- somehow, some way- start fighting against it.

Licking his lips he continued concluding his assistant couldn't been swayed, "From what I can understand there's a string of suitable punishments depending on the severity of the crime. However, in Jubb's case judging by what I've learned of his accusations this will go right to the top. And Adriana, I'm sorry to say it's not pretty, there's evidence of individuals being sentenced to death. The media are whipping this quickly into a frenzy, they're calling for Jubb's blood and those of anyone who's been sheltering him."

Adriana did turn a but paler, but at the same time her gaze hardened and spine stiffened. "My husband survived years in a Cardassian Death Camp. If some jumped up media-circus of a trial think they are going to execute him, they had better recalculate. I am NOT losing him like this," she practically spat.

Adriana turned to T'mpest then. "Sir. Why exactly have we not deployed a rescue mission yet? We responded to this planet's request for help in peace negotiations, and in return we have been attacked and wrongly imprisoned without even an investigation for most of the people they have arrested. That's illegal, and it's practically a declaration of war. Starfleet Security is trained for hostage situations and for rescue missions. Why aren't we doing it?" she asked.

"Because there are times when a logical, practical approach will result in a beneficial outcome," T'mpest replied quietly. "We are fighting, but we're doing it through facts, not firepower."

The sound of a pig squealing caused T'mpest to pause. "I'll be back. I think Sammi found something."

She walked into her ready room and smiled at the pink pig plushie on her desk. "Hello, Sammi. What have you found?"

The pig turned from looking at T'mpest to sit facing the console. "Discrepancies. Two attacks on the planet, one while Captain Jubb escaped. It contradicts the official records. There are other discrepancies in the official records," Sammi announced.

She sat down at her desk and began to read over the data, some of it from Landreah, some from old Starfleet files. The original records were long gone, but there were enough gaps in the "official" records to bring up serious questions. The Landreah investigation fit quite neatly in the gaps. "Good job, Sammi. Copy the files. I want a backup on my personal computer." She pulled a PADD from a desk drawer and inserted it into a slot in the computer. "Copy the data to the PADD. I want to take to the trial." She looked at the chronometer on the computer. There were only fifteen minutes left before the trial. "Add the data from Ensign Rodney and Lieutenant Blake."

Sammi nodded. A moment later, he snorted that the data transfer was complete. T'mpest pulled out the PADD and smiled. "Thank you again." She was about to walk onto the bridge when she received an incoming message. She pushed a button to answer the call, one eyebrow raising in surprise when she saw who it was.
