Mission: Structured Shoreleave - Marchwiel
Location: Riverbank, Planetside
Timeline: Current

The night air was cool and drifted lazily across Curtiss bare face and arms, sending icy fingers across them and offering their brief but refreshing essence onto him as he stared upwards at the sky. Lying on his back, his arms folded behind his head, Curtiss was staring up at the clear night sky, watching the stars in the heavens. The orientation was, of course, completely alien, but they held the same sway they had when he was a boy. He often had spent nights camping and just stared up at the stars wondering exactly was out there. Having served in Starfleet for a spell, he knew a bit more than he did when he was just a boy, but that didn't satiate the inner desires he had to go out and explore more.

Shoreleave, although forced upon them, had been relaxing for Curtiss. He'd had the chance to wind his mind down from the last mission, get used to the fact that he'd not nearly lost his crew and that it was only a misinformation. Still, it had taken a bit of getting used to and he'd managed to cope through it without the assistance of any of the Counseling staff.

Now, like the rest of the crew, Curtiss was enjoying the time off of duty to take in some fresh air and otherwise enjoy their stay here until Starfleet could arrive with a team to get the Ranger off the planet. Thankfully they were hidden in a place where the local populace would never find them. That would certainly complicate things.

He'd spent time in the holodeck in his favorite programs, he'd gone for a swim in the cool water of the river and he'd even spent a few nights socializing with the crew in the Lounge - something he normally didn't do. It had been quite the shoreleave to say the least, but even though he'd been enjoying the downtime, he felt the urge to get back out there and get to work. To find out what else he could discover and what other missions they could complete. In fact, it was that drive and yearning that had brought him back out here to stare up at the stars... and wonder.
