Visiting the Doc

Mission: Citadel Prime
Location: Sickbay, USS Archimedes
Timeline: Current

Lieutenant Commander Arkham had never been particularly fond of sickbays; she'd spent enough time in them that she'd become accustomed to them, but she still never liked to be in one for a particularly extended period of time--she'd get twitchy after a while, and rather nervous, even if there were few outward symptoms on the doctor's cool features.

"Commander," Dr. Halsey said warmly, bringing the old officer a cup of tea. "What are you doing here today?"

Arkham smirked, sipping the tea. "I'm here to see the new Chief Medical Officer. I figured I'd welcome him with open arms before I make him wish he'd never met me. You know, confuse the hell out of him just...because I can, mostly."

"Rowena--" Catherine said, smirking.

"I'm not asking you to participate," Arkham said, "Or even watch."

Heading over to the Chief's office, Arkham smirked as much as her ruined face would allow as she saw the Chief at work at his desk. "Lieutenant Mabren -- welcome aboard. I trust you're enjoying the facilities so far?"

Mabren was sitting at his desk reviewing the crews' medical records, having the music a little louder than usual; when a message popped up on his display. The message from the counselor was a reminder for certain members of the crew of the need to see her. Opening a new window, Mabren began to type a message to the counselor, when a voice from the door interrupted. Looking up, he noticed that this voice belonged to the executive officer, standing, Mabren moved around his desk to greet the XO. "Thank you Commander," the young man commented with a smile, "Yes, I am. They are more advanced than what the Zhukov had, but I'm a quick learner." Gesturing with his right hand to the empty chair in front of his desk, Mabren asked, "What could I do for you Commander?"

Arkham shook her head. "I'll stand, thank you. I'm here to check in, see how things are going, see if your facilities need upgrading or anything before we arrive at Citadel Prime. And of course, I'm assuming I need to get my damned physical out of the way, don't I?"

Shacking his head, Mabren answered the first half of the questions from the XO, "From what I have seen of the medical areas, we're fully capable. I'm still reviewing the crews records and haven't gotten to the files regarding the Citadel species, so if anything changes, I'll be sure to submit a request." Gesturing out to the main part of sickbay, Mabren lead the way out of his office, before answering, "Yes, I would like to do that, since your here."

Arkham nodded. "This is probably the last time I will require your services. I'm assuming you've met Dr. Catherine Halsey about your sickbay? She is my personal physician -- she will tend to my medical care, it's what I pay her for. She's a craniofacial specialist, and has a great deal of experience with the sort of injuries I have."

The young medical officer was brought up short, "I have met her, briefly," he said, finding this rather unusual, but acceptable.

Arkham smirked as much as her ruined features would allow. "Shall we get this show on the road, Doctor?"

"If you'll have a seat on one of the biobeds, this'll be over before it began," he said, with a smile.

Arkham nodded, taking a seat on the biobed, running a hand over the suture line on the left side of her face from her most recent surgery. "I understand this is very odd, Lieutenant. And I have no doubt you are a highly trained medical professional. But highly trained medical professionals are the reason my...visage appears as it does. So you can understand my skepticism."

Watching the woman trace the scar across her face, Mabren could only wonder what type of hack fixed her. But for now, he let the issue rest, and pulled out his medical tricoder and began to run his scans.

Settling on the biobed, Arkham smirked as much as her ruined features would allow, "Do your worst, Dr. Mabren."

After the few seconds that it took, the scans were complete and he had all the information he needed, stepping away from the commander, he said; "We're almost finished." Pressing buttons on the console, he had it access the information on the tricorder, "I'll just have to compare to the baseline."

Arkham nodded a little, eyeing the Doctor suspiciously -- she hated physicals, but at least this would be over soon, and she was free and clear for yet another year. "All right, excellent, Doctor."

Concerned about the scar that ran across the woman's face and throat, Mabren paid closer attention to that area. The display was showing above average white cell activity, grabbing his tricorder, Mabren walked back over and ran a new, more extensive scan of the scar.

Looking at the reading, he was noticing a minor infection in the throat. Noticing the questing glances from the Commander, Mabren stepped back before saying, "Your fine, but you do have a minor infection in your throat. You'll need to receive some antibiotics and I'll want to see you back for a checkup."

Arkham smirked a little. Of course this would happen when she was eager to get out of the sickbay and get on with her day. She nodded a little, and said, "All right, fine. Is that going to be all, Mr. Mabren?"

"Almost," Mabren said, before moving off to grab a hypospray. Inserting the cartridge with the anti-biotic, Mabren walked back over to the biobed with the Commander sitting on it and pressed it against her neck, opposite of the scare and pressed the activator. After the short hiss, Mabren continued, "Three more injections over the next three days. After their completed, we'll see how the infection is."

With a small smile, Mabren stepped back from the Commander to allow her to leave while holding out the hypo, "We're all done now, Commander. Have a pleasant day."

Arkham smirked, exiting the sickbay. There was a reason she disliked them, after all. And now, she'd remembered why.
