Mission:
Shoreleave - Welcoming Old Friends and New
Location: Crew quarters
Timeline: Current
ON:
Being thrown out of sickbay was not something that Maria Traho was used to. In fact, she was not used to being told what to do at all, preferring to do whatever she wanted without challenge. That nasty EMH deserved a dressing down and she intended to make that happen.
She sat heavily in her chair and tapped her computer angrily. "Computer? Maria Traho. Open a direct channel to Admiral Nield immediately."
Beeping. "That channel is not accessible at present," replied the computer.
Maria screwed up her eyes, remembering. "Computer, I asked you to open a direct channel to Admiral Nield. Authorisation Traho, eight-epsilon-pi. NOW!" She added the last bit just to vent her anger.
The screen flickered and the Admiral's bedroom came into view. Nield slid into the chair and looked somewhat nervous. "Maria!" he hissed. His eyes flicked to the left, quickly then back at her. "What can I do for you, my darling?" His voice was quiet - almost a whisper.
"About time, Nelly," she said, rather too loudly. "I have a bloody little EMH on board who thinks he can..."
Her voice tailed off as someone walked past the Admiral in the background. Nield immediately straightened in his seat and said, rather too officially for her liking "Thank you, Nurse Traho for bringing that to my attention. I am glad you have followed my orders and reported this serious matter to me." The figure in the background went back the other way and a door opened and closed. Nield's eyes follwed the unseen person to the door then back to Maria on screen.
"I am sorry, my darling, I can't speak now." He blew a kiss at her. "I miss you terribly!"
"Then get me off this nasty little ship, Nelly. I hate it." She put on her little girl voice, "Maria is bored and wants to see Nelly."
Nield sighed, "I wish I could, darling, but my wife has come home early from her holiday. I am sure you can find something else to do on board." He smiled at her and blew her another kiss.
"Nelly, I can't! I have people being rude to me and my holodeck rations have run out. Can't you...." The figure behind Nield returned and walked off screen again. The Admiral's eyes followed, again, indicating they had company.
"Thank you again, Nurse. Nield out."
The view screen went blank.
Maria's mouth dropped open and she slammed her hand into the screen in a temper. She breathed in then out, collected her thoughts then stood up and left her quarters. She was on her way to the Golden Crown, determined that she should gain entry and several free drinks from any unlucky officer.
