[Security Offices]

Dhindara walked into security. She disliked this particular part of the exercise but she had no choice in the matter. She walked up to a man who was a tower. She looked way up, which was unusual for her as she wasn't particularly short for a woman of her species, but this man certainly towered over any humanoid creature she had seen so far. "Good morning", she greeted. "Master Chief Dhindara Vrel reporting for phaser certification."

"Dispense with these worthless greetings, grab a phaser and prepare for battle", he said looking down at the tiny woman with a growl, "Computer begin program Troc-Alpha -3, 2 second delay, good luck", he said as he stalked off to a corner of the room. The computer's monotone voice said "Program start."

Dhindara frowned. "They don't teach manners at the academy anymore?" she asked. She started shooting the targets, after all she was familiar with straight forward phaser training.

Turoc still standing in the conner stated in a tone just high enough for the computer the interpret "Computer, start level 4." Now the targets would shoot back. 'I wonder how well she will perform on this level. Let me see if the Betazoid can handle this as easily.' His mandibles made a slight movement, the closest his race had to smiling sinisterly.

Dhindara was completely surprised by the first target firing back. She had not focused on the mind of Turoc and was therefore immediately hit by the phaser beam.

Turoc saw how surprised she was "Children complete harder simulations without a scratch." he said loudly, his mandibles moving in and out repeatedly, his race's equivalent of laughing. 'Such a lowly creature for being able to sense the thoughts of others', he thought to himself.

"Computer, end program", Dhindara said. She was angry. She turned around and trained the phaser on Turoc, firing it at him repeatedly. She was certain it stung as much as the training simulation did. "You do that to me again and I'll show you the meaning of pain!" She focused her mind on his, she wanted to be prepared for his actions this time, having time to react to them before he could even implement them.

Turoc extended his wrist blade, flared his mandibles and roared "Make no mistake, Betazoid. Fire at me again and nothing will save you, I will flay you in a matter of seconds and render that phaser useless before even you can react, do I make myself clear?" he said, lowering his head to stare into her eyes with his yellow cat-like predatory eyes. He paused and waited for her to respond, resisting from impaling her on the wrist blades he had extended, they measured about 3 feet.

Dhindara wasn't impressed. Brute force, strength and hardly any brains. She closed her eyes and focused solely on his mind. She sent over images, memories that would come to life in his mind again. She had felt many people die, in very painful ways, felt their fear and terror in their last seconds. It made for a very potent telepathic weapon, and she wasn't going to let this man stand there and threaten her life without defending herself. She chose for him the sensation of burning alive, made sure it seemed as real to him as if it was actually happening.

Turoc howled with pain. In this pain he flailed his arms knocking her to the ground with considerable force and continued howling and flinging about the room.

Dhindara had her air pressed from her lung and she didn't enjoy the impact at all. She rolled out of the way to make sure he wouldn't come close to her again. In the meantime she reset the phaser to heavy stun rather than light shocks and fired at him.

Turoc slumped slight with the phaser blast, enraged to the point that his nature took over even though he felt agonising pain. He fixed his gaze on her. Comming toward her he thrust his wrist blades into the floor glazing her side creating a rather deep cut with blood began running from almost instantly, I won't miss next time Betazoid he roared.

Dhindara saw that this had to stop somehow. She didn't want to have to go through the legal proceeds of having to explain why she killed an officer, but even less so did she want to be the one killed. She rolled away, the pain she felt forced some of her concentration away, she had to try and keep functioning in spite of the wound. Her phaser was now on level three and a concentrated blast would have knocked out any humanoid she knew, even the most resilient ones, for at least fifteen minutes. She quickly pressed the buttons on the phaser. She didn't want to take any chances, she pushed it up to level six, the strongest setting she dared use that wouldn't outright kill him, at least that was true from most species, but definitely take him out and put him to sickbay with a severe shock and burns. She fired.

Turoc let out groan and fell to the floor with a resounding thud from his massive frame, semi-conscious he tried to move toward her after a few painful lunges he finally passed out from the pain of the phaser just before slipping into unconsciousness he managed to say "This isn't over Betazoid."

As she saw the giant man collapse she let out a sigh of relief. A tough opponent, the toughest she had come upon so far. She hoped she wouldn't get into any serious trouble for this, but as far as she was concerned she defended herself against a threat to her life. She tapped her combadge. "Vrel to sickbay, medical emergency, two wounded for site-to-site transport."
