Mission:
Shoreleave - Welcoming Old Friends and New
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: 64379.49
ON:
Someone had thoughtlessly left the EMH activated and walked out of sickbay. As his programme did not currently allow periods of idleness, he was making use of his time by tidying up. Since the Captain's emergency joining with the Symbiont, sickbay was a mess.
He sterilised and rehomed 11 hyposprays and ensured each biobed was washed down with sonic waves. Then he went over to the wall and tapped the buttons needed to reveal the stasis chamber. It slid out of the wall with a hum. He stopped. Something was in it. He peered through the plastic covering, his holographic eyes focussing automatically and a frown on his face. This was replaced by a look of annoyance as he straighted up and tapped his combadge.
"Maria Traho to sickbay, immediately."
Maria did not hear her combadge at first as it was hidden in a pile of clothes that had been thrown across the room. A second call of her name roused her from her sleep and she yawned and stretched. The bed beside her was empty and it took her a few moments to remember the name of the Ensign she had managed to seduce the previous night. Her combadge twittered again.
"MARIA TRAHO. Please report to sickbay"
She reached the badge eventually and tapped it, leaning over the edge of the bed. "Maria here, who is that?"
"This is the EMH. It is 11.15am and you are required in sickbay."
A good hour later sickbay doors opened and Maria walked in, dark hair flowing behind her. The EMH was impatiently tapping his foot.
"It's about time."
Maria smiled "Morning, doctor."
"I will not mention that your duty shift started more than half an hour ago, Nurse Traho, or the fact that you are not wearing regulation Star Fleet uniform. But I WILL mention the fact that there is something irregular in this stasis chamber."
He pointed an arm out quickly and jabbed to the bed in the wall.
Maria's eyes followed his finger and she took a few steps until she, too, was peering through the plastic. As she did so, the EMH tapped the wall button and the plastic opened in front of her eyes to reveal a large array of bottles and tubes. They both straightened up and looked at each other.
"Well?" asked the EMH, clearly annoyed.
"Well what?" she responded. "I have to keep my make-up somewhere and the storage facilities on this tiny ship are not adequate. Besides, this chamber keeps evreything at the perfect temperature." She smiled again and looked up at him through her long, feathery eyelashes and intense brown eyes.
"Your feminine charms don't work on me, Nurse Traho. Nor does your frankly revealing attire. I suggest you remove your extensive collection of warpaint from this medical chamber before I recycle it."
"You wouldn't do that." She pouted her "little girl" pout and touched him lightly on the arm.
The EMH looked down at her hand and threw it off. "If you don't start pulling your weight in this sickbay, Nurse, I can have you thrown off the ship."
Maria's patience was wearing thin now. Her usual tactics were not working. "You can't do that to me. I am here at the special request of Admiral Nield!"
"I can!"
"Doctor. I know for a fact that you would have to get the Captain's permission to remove me. He is not likely to cross an Admiral." She folded her arms in a smug gesture. "I wasn't born yesterday, you know."
"More's the pity," snapped the EMH. "We could have started your personality from scratch."
Maria's mouth fell open and her arms fell by her sides.
"The Admiral will here of this," she said, spitefully. "You watch out."
"Get out! Get out of my sickbay, you dreadful parasite!"
He pushed her towards the door.
"Get off me, you holographic idiot!" she replied, but the door was already open and she was half out.
With a final push she stumbled into the corridor and the sickbay doors closed behind her. Nothing like that had ever happened to her before and it was all she could do to regain her composure. She hurried back to her quarters to open a communication channel to Admiral Nield.
Meanwhile, the EMH was actually wiping his hands. "Good riddance to bad rubbish" he said, pleased with himself and started putting all of the make up into a large sack.
