Mission:
Behind the Mask of Familiarity
Location: Shalie Montgomery's Temporary Residence
Timeline: Nine Days Ago - 0800 Hours
=/= The time is now 0800 hours, your designated wake up time. =/= It was the voice of the computer, the cool female voice unperturbed by the earliness of the hour.
Drew rolled over with a groan, rubbing his eye with the heel of his palm and brushing hair from his eyes. With his open eye, he scanned his surroundings and realized, quite frighteningly, that he had no idea where he was. That realization was collowed by another, he was as naked as the day he'd been born. Turning on his side and strategically arranging the single sheet, he made his final realization, he was not alone in this bed.
Drew's eyes lingered on the green skin and raven hair. He remembered the night's festivities before and with a groan thought, Please don't be who I think it is
Shalie gave out a groan as the alarm sounded. "Computer..alarm off..light 20%," she called still half asleep. Her eyes opened slowly as the soft glow of the lights brought the room into focus. Something on the floor caught her eye. It was a sweat shirt that looked familiar, in that moment the events of the night before came rushing back to her. "Shit, it wasn't a dream.." she said slightly louder then she meant. Taking a deep breath to calm herself she rolled over. She was careful to keep the sheet covering all the right places. "Morning...secret agent man.."
Drew tried to keep from smiling, hers was exactly the same reaction as his. "Morning," he said as he tried to decide whether to call her Shalie or Lieutenant. He opted for the former, "Shalie. Tell me this is as awkward for you?"
"Well, I have had better moments..." Shalie replied.
With a quick inward breath drawn over his teeth, Drew produced a hiss of resignation. "I should probably go. This may not have been the best idea."
Shalie was too tired to control her anger. It was her fault, over the last few days she had put Drew up on this pedastal and in true O'Connell form he knocked himself back off. Before she could think her actions through, the sound of her hand meeting Drew's face rang though her quarters. With a frustrated huff she threw off the sheet, figuring modesty was lost by this point. She snatched up his clothing and calmly walked over to the door. Once it opened she tossed everything but the sweatshirt, which she slipped on, outside. "You wanna be ashamed...now you at least have a reason." She turned and headed for the kitchen.
"You don't disappoint, Shalie," Drew left the meaning hanging and he could see her trying to sort it in her head. Wrapping the sheet around his waist, he scooped up his tossed clothing in the hall. As one last dig, he added, "Thanks for the forgetable night and memorable morning."
With a dignity he did't feel, Drew threw the sheet over his shoulder. Sporting a Roman toga, he walked down the thankfully empty hallway and entered the elevator. Disabling the security camera with a pull of the power regulator behind it, Drew pulled his pants, shirt and shoes on before it hit ground floor. Whistling as he exited Shalie's apartment complex, it was all he could do not to smile.
Shalie stood in her kitchen attempting to keep herself from laughing. Some part of her was mad at O'Connell, but in the end she would have been more suprised if he hadn't acted the way he did. The man was predicitable she had to give him that. She looked down at the sweatshirt she was wearing and just lost it. The first wave of laughter filled her apartment as she made her way to the living room. At least I don't have to worry about seeing him again...
