Mission: Wolves in Sheep's Clothing
Location: USS Chariot, Hospital Ship
Timeline: Current

ON:

The ceiling of the room situated in the hospital ship that was ferrying Altir Kerr to the USS Archimedes was stark white. It matched, exactly, the colour of the smocks worn loosely by the medical staff serving onboard, the whitewashed walls that encased the white, painted bed on which he lay, and the white pressed sheets that tightly wrapped around his frail frame.

He stirred, only slightly, as he lay, asleep in a land of troubled dreams. He was unaware of the streaking shafts of starlight that zipped past the small, portside window, carrying him closer and closer, as in life, to his death.

A medtech entered the room, a data PADD in one hand, and a medical tricorder in the other. She turned to her superior over her supple shoulder, continuing their discussion.

"…he won't make it through the week. His condition is worsening, I fear, and at this stage of aggression, there's little more we can do for him."

The tall, lean Trill walked up to the bed, bent over at his waist, and looked upon the elderly, dying patient. "I guess it is just a waiting game, then," he said, sighing with genuine sadness. "All we can really do is make him comfortable for the journey. Doctor Eleri Elde will want to know of his condition. Is she still in her office?" he asked.

"No, Doctor Kahn," a voice replied behind him, "I am here. What is it?" she asked, warmly.

Stood in the doorframe of the suite was the same Doctor that Lane had conversed with several weeks back via subspace. Her warm face, weathered by age, and yet glowing with wisdom, looked concerned. "Will he make it to see him?" she asked, walking over to the bedside and touching the Trill's face.

"We're… optimistic, Doctor Elde," he replied, hesitantly.

"Really?" she asked, her face full of sorrow as she flicked her dark eyes from him to the patient and then back again. "You don't seem to be."

"Providing we don't run into any complications, he should be stable enough to bring to consciousness once we arrive."

"Well, that's all he wished for," she said, gravely. "I hope he gets it."
