"Pull virus out...Raum comes out," Hans paused. "Cozar can't think! Think...", he continues to ramble in both languages, non-gibberish. He needed his medicine in which he left in his guest quarters. The drug helps calm the neurotransmitters in his brain from over firing chemicals in the receptors. He knows more about his disorder more than most people, but never shares it with anybody but his wife. "Throw virus in space!"
[NEW]
Miral watched Hans. She went over to him and gently led him to the biobed to sit down. "It's okay. We'll get you help in minute."
"Like he said, beam the virus into space, or into a plasma conduit. Destroy it," she said to John.
Hans slowly followed her but backed a little bit to give space as he didn't like anybody touching him. While sitting on the biobed, he continued to rock himself in a forward and backward motion, nodded several times after he heard the female reworded his explanation to John. "Space kills virus!"
John nodded his head and looked down. He took a hold of the thing metal tool again and eased it into the injection slot, gently placing it against the vial, before slowly easing it up until he felt it jerk slightly from hitting the top of the vial. Slowly he began to ease it up, trying not to release it or apply unnecessary pressure. The slightest amount of strength could break the glass and expose himself, along with everyone there, to the virus. As he raised the vial up with the metal tool, he lowered his free hand, so when the vial was exposed enough he could grab a hold of it with his fingertips. He watched it carefully, maintaining a sharp eye, until it was just enough to grab a hold. When he grabbed it, he eased it out further, finally removing the vial, and placing it on the biobed.
Without any further hesitation, John tapped his combadge, and shouted. "Douglas to Bridge. Lock onto my combadge it materialize it into space." He removed his combadge before shouting. "Now... Energize." Just as he placed the combadge against the vial and stepped back.
He released a huge sign of relief as he saw the transporter stream engulf the combadge and vial. John ran his hands through his hair and closed his eyes. His heart was racing like mad, and his brain was flooded with so many thoughts, before he let out another deep breath and suddenly chuckled.
Still rocking, Hans was relieved to hear that John got the virus out. "Raum out! Ja!" He rubbed both sides of his face with his two hands as a habit to the nervousness. "Need Ritalin. Can't think!"
John looked over to Hans for a moment. He took a moment to think before looking to Miral and nodding his head. Slowly, he approached the man and placed his hand on his shoulder. "Hans... Hans?" He said in a calming tone. The same tone the man was used to hearing from him already. "I need you to focus, my friend. Slow and deep breaths. Can you do that for me?" He said as he placed his other hand on the mans other shoulder. He raised his voice slightly, but not in an aggressive way, and repeated himself. "Hans... the danger is over. I need you to calm yourself. You can do this. I believe in you. Just breath in slow and deep. Through your nose... then hold it for a 5 seconds. Then release. Come on, Buddy. We'll do it together, okay?"
Hans obeyed him but couldn't stop rocking. He kept his hands on his face. His eyes were focused at his metal rank on John's uniform collar. "Need my medicine...Ritalin."
"You only think you need it because you've always relied on it." John replied calmly. "Look at me, Hans. Look at my face and focus." He said as he gripped the mans shoulders, but not harming him with he strength. "Breath with me, Hans. If you have to, close your eyes, and just focus on my voice. You trust me, don't you, my friend?"
He gripped John's forearms as he needed support and slowly looked at his eyes before he closed his eyes. With a little embarrassment and in a lower voice, "I have autism...high spectrum. My medicine is in my quarters, not a narcotic...do trust you, John. My wife is only one who knows." Sadness gripped him by thinking of Ursula and he released tears. He lowered his head but kept his eyes closed. "I cannot function...need my medicine."
"I understand, Hans, but we can try to ease it off until we get it. Okay?" John said as he took a hold of the mans hands. "New strategy then. Close your eyes and think of a place where you are at your most calm. A place where you felt the most shielded from the world. Where you felt safe and relaxed. Can you do that for me, Hans? Can you try?"
He glanced at John and closed his eyes again. He has calmed down but his rocking is still in motion, not as fast as it was. "I'm sorry for the virus," he slightly shuddered. A world came to mind. Tatris III where there is a beach several kilometers from his city. His feet felt the sand and the warmth on his face from the sun. From the distance, a woman approached him with a smile. "Ursula," he said. "Meine Liebe. Forgive me to the Prophets." Hans started to be more calmer seeing his wife in his mind, not knowing of his rocking motion has eased up more. "I'm sorry that I couldn't be with you." The woman touched his face, still smiling without saying anything back to him.
John placed his hand on Han's arm and calmly said. "Hans... you know I have to bring you to the brig, Yes? I don't think I will have to place you in cuffs for the trip, but I will be with you every step, alright? I won't leave your side till we get there. I give you my word."
"He needs medical attention first," Miral said quietly.
Hans felt his mind was numb as he followed the familiar voice. He couldn't speak at the moment as he stared at John.
"Then go get a nurse, or doctor, to give him something." John said as he looked to Miral.
Miral nodded. "Be right back."
The Medical Technician, Thomas Morrison, was standing outside the entrance to sickbay. He was confused as to what was going on, being held back by security guards as he walked through the doors. "I'm here to report for duty. Where is Doctor Butler?"
The intel officer turned to the technician. "He'll be along shortly. This gentleman needs medication. Can you take care of him?"
As soon as he looked around sickbay, Thomas was surprised that it was missing the medical personnel. He sees a man slightly rocking himself on a biobed, a man in yellow uniform talking softly to him, and Lieutenant Miral who stopped him. He has never met any of them except for Rami once. He frowned as he turned to the officer. "I have less experience than a nurse but I am able to treat anybody. What is going on? Where are the nurses?"
"They stepped out for a minute," Miral said. "They'll be right back. In the meantime, Mr. Douglas is going to help Mr. Cozer back to his room." She smiled at the tech. "So, if you'll excuse us, we'll be on our way."
He was about to ask a question but held his tongue when Rami appeared to be too busy to stick around. It still didn't make any sense why the nurses left with one patient behind with security. He shook his head and walked carefully to the two men. "Mr. Douglas? Mind telling me what is going on? Shouldn't the patient be seeing a counselor? I was told that he needed medication...what kind?"
John took a hold of Hans, by the arm, and looked to the medical tech. He raised a brow, pondering a thought, before replying "Ritalin..." before smiling a bit and concluding. "Make sure someone brings it to the brig for him. I'll be there to with there. If you see the Doctor, the real doctor, have him meet me there as soon as he is able." He looked to Hans and added. "We're going to the brig now, Hans. I won't put any restraints on you, but so don't give me a reason to regret it. I'm trusting you." John soon began to walk with the man out of sickbay towards the brig.
