Mission:
Wolves in Sheep's Clothing
Location: Lane's Ready Room
Timeline: Current
ON:
Jonas looked at the faces of the three Starfleet Captains displayed on his screen. Commander Lane, with his trill spots going up and down the side of his neck, looked young, but eager and already showed signs of command experience. Commander Jacken, even though she was 20 so years older then when he had first met her, looked almost the same as the Academy Cadet who had dated Jonas' roommate. Finally, Commander O'shea, who was the oldest of the Captains. Kathleen had been a Marine Colonel before switching to the blue and then serving aboard the USS Gallant and now commanded the USS Sentinel.
Jonas leaned back in his chair and took of sip of his coffee, "Captains, how is everyone doing this fine Starfleet morning?"
Lane winced a smile. "Captains," he said with a nod of greeting. Troubled by his own struggles aboard the Archimedes, he tried to allow the mask of command and professionalism fall over his strong features. There was a time and place to inform the captains of the Citadel Task Force about the darkness that enveloped his small ship, but he wanted to see how this dialogue progressed before him came forth into the light with it.
Jonas raised an eyebrow and at Lane's response. He didn't know the man well enough to get a true gage on his feelings, but he could tell that the Captain was troubled. He chose to move on, “I just wanted to give you three a heads up as to our status. The Nagasaki has arrived at Feros, and we’ve began our operations. On the way here we did run into some pirates, not a big incident, but not worthy enough to mention to you.
Lane snapped away from his own world of torment and intently fixed his blue eyes, and attention, on the captain displayed on the view screen before him.
"What happened, Jonas?" he asked.
“They ran off before either of us fired a shot, but I get the feeling we’ll be seeing them again. Jonas leaned forward, “If any of you bump into them, be aware that their leader seems to be smarter then the standard pirate raider.
"The Archimedes is sitting in still waters for the moment. But, I'm having continuous long-range scans run. I don't wanna get caught short should anything surprising happen."
Andrea laughed, "Arr there be pirates everywhere." Then she straightened her face. "We had to make a small jump from Casbin, we extracted the President of the planet but a faction seeking power started targeting his compound and then in turn our auxiliary craft that were escorting him off planet, we took some damage and had one injury but the President is now safe aboard the Nogura. We plan on putting a small team back on Casbin to start piecing together a good LZ to get in and start some work on the outer regions, the usual humanitarian aid and then we will be working to create an underground to begin bringing power back to its rightful authority."
"Sounds like you've been busy Andrea. Keep it up, we need that planet stable before you move on." Jonas looked to Kathleen, “Any idea on when the Sentinel will be joining the party?
O’shea shook here head, "It may be some time Captain."
Jonas nodded, "Understood. We'll put your part of this mission on hold for the time being." He looked to the other two captains. "Alright, let's get back to work."
