"When I left, the argument seemed to have diverted attention away from McCreevy. At first, it wasn't looking so good but from what I was picking up, the security force here doesn't take too kindly to being publicly challenged." Sehra smiled ruefully, shrugging as if to indicate that there was nothing unusual about that reaction. "They were busy arresting a couple of the stallholders who got a little rough and I think the others had managed to melt back into the crowd after the initial warning. The Lieutenant said he'd circle around and meet up with them before heading back here."
[NEW]
"Good, because this is all starting to unravel faster than we can keep up." she started as they made their way back to the Horseshoe entrance. "Rami and I have already had a run-in with some locals, now the others are at it. We're not having much luck with containing our presence here, and if our luck doesn't change soon, then Miral could be looking at even more trouble than we can handle." She eyed Rami still at the bar, and still in one piece at least, and sat down with Sehra at the table they had occupied previously, while honing in on the thoughts of the various groups at the bar, or at least some of them given some were uncouth and unsavoury.
[Bar]
Rami slid onto a bar stool and ordered a drink, taking care to keep her injured leg out of sight. "White wine," she said to the bartender.
He came back with a glass. "Do you want the bottle for your friends?" he indicated the table where Rylie sat.
"No. She's thinking over my offer. So, I'm going to have a drink," Rami said, smiling at the man.
He smiled back and nodded. "Let me know if you need anything."
She slowly sipped her wine and listened to the conversation going on nearby.
"So, where are they now?" One of the associates asked Tan.
"Ah who knows, who really cares." Tan replied nonchalantly. "I just do what I'm asked, and do what I'm paid, which while this job may be more profitable than any than I've previously done, I have yet to see any coins lining my pocket. Maas says this is the result is the payment," Tan continued after taking a gulp of his drink, "that we're going to be getting everything to gain by this. Everything that we have been working toward for the past year. I'd like to believe him."
"Well, we might finally be on the right track this time." Someone else started, "With the inclusion of the Federation..."
"The Federation..." Tan spat. "The Federation shouldn't even be here, certainly not after what happened the last time. As soon as the second of the batteries has been secured, Maas is sending them a message and requesting, by force if necessary, that they withdraw."
"The strike team should be able to take the other by sun down. We should know more..." Before the man could finish his sentence, one of the rowdy group on the other side of Miral was pushed and stumbled back into her, effectively sandwiching her between the one with little balance due to intoxication, and Jensa Tan.
Tan whirled round and "Hey, watch..." he said angrily but then faltered. The rowdy group moved off out of the way leaving Tan just looking at Rami on her stool. "You're not from around her are you?"
She shook her head. "Here on business."
"What's your name?" he asked with a charming smile despite the scar down his nose.
"Lexa. And you?"
He was about to speak again when his personal comm device sounded in his pocket. "Excuse me," he said taking it out and looking at the message.
Rylie caught the thought immediately, and her expression changed from a lighthearted smile thinking about what Sehra had just said, to frowned worriment as she suddenly sent into Miral's head Rami, he knows who we are.
Rami carefully slipped the knife out of its sheath with one hand and grasped her drink more tightly with hte other, ready to react. She wasn't going to make the first move. She didn't want the Federation accused of assault, but she wasn't going to do nothing, either. She glanced at the drunk man beside her, wondering if she could get him involved so she could slip out.
Tan side-glanced at the innocent expression on Rami's face, before closing the flip-panel and suddenly taking off toward the exit.
Cattmor stood so fast, her chair was flung to the floor, Sehra standing not a split second later, as Rylie impacted straight into Jensa Tan's side, sprawling them both on the hard ground. He recovered enough to get a good contact in with his fist to Rylie's jaw, before she returned a harder one, effectively rendering him unconscious.
Rami threw her drink in the face of the other man at the bar, aiming for his eyes. "Hey!" he yelled as he scrambled to get the burning alcohol out of his eyes.
She turned to the drunk beside her. "He just propositioned me. Are you going to let him talk like that to a lady?"
The drunk laughed and made a lewd comment, so she punched him in the jaw. Before he could react, she was off the bar stool. He swung blindly and connected with another man.
The man swore and punched the drunk in the jaw, knocking him to the floor. The drunk's buddy knocked over his drink and lunged at the man.
Rami moved back as the fight grew heated. She went to see how Tan was doing, and deftly picked his pockets. Then she attacked a tracking device in case they had to find him later. "He's out cold," she announced, standing again.
Rami tossed a few coins on the bar. "Sorry for the inconvenience." She had to step back quickly to keep from being caught in the fight that was still going on at the bar.
"All right," a deep male voice said from behind Rami as he grabbed her by the arm just before she knocked into him as well. "Let's go." And he roughly started pulling her aside.
Cattmor could only look on in horror as she watched a second and a third fight break out near the bar as it spilled over into another group. Then at Miral as she was handled by another one, at least he was a member of staff, but it still spelled trouble. She stood up just at the wrong moment as one of Tan's group arrived, and her head cracked into his chin. He stumbled back before taking a violent swing at Rylie which she narrowly managed to dodge, just before someone else smashed a bottle into her forehead making a deep gash wound. The action and the pain brought on shock, and everything seemed to go into slow motion as she fell slumped to the floor, the last thing she could remember was watching Sehra getting dragged from their table by a couple of other people who had walked in a few minutes before all hell broke loose. Her brain was fogged from the impact, and she could do nothing but watch events unfolding before her world went blank and she lost consciousness.
Miral watched Rylie fall, aghast. She ran over to her friend and checked on her to make sure she was going to be okay. "This is so not going to go over well with my boss," she muttered, still trying to stay in character. Then she grabbed Rylie and half dragged, half carried her outside.
She cleared the back door, intent on making it into the alley and calling the Ranger for help, but someone got there before her. As she turned the corner, she was hit by a stun weapon and fell to the ground.
